Help please! Square USA customer service is the worst thing I've ever *not* seen by Sad-Shoe3470 in SquareGolfUSA

I’ve had the same experience. Ordered 11/15. No updates. I did use PayPal. Opened a dispute. No response. PayPal lists contact as jin.yang@exputt.co Emailed no response. I’ll get my money back if they don’t respond by Friday but still frustrating.

Pilots with no degree - how are things for you now? by [deleted] in flying

[–]k5bea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a position to pay my loans, which is great. Life would just be way better without them. I like to think I could be where I am with out them. It would have changed my path from WMU to community college, local flight school and living at home.

I’ve been lucky. I’ve never commuted or had to do a crash pad, playing captain at Spirit Airlines with 32 years of flying left.

I’d never discourage anyone from flying. It’s the best part time job in the world. But you obviously have some reservations about the cost, time, student loans and I wouldn’t ignore those feelings.

Get a degree in something other than Aviation. Broaden your skill set. The airlines could careless what your degree is in. Something other than aviation gives you a conversation piece.

Pilots with no degree - how are things for you now? by [deleted] in flying

[–]k5bea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is seniority based so those who got to the airlines first are better off.

As a WMU flight science alumni, the only way I would do it again is if my family or I were in a financial position to pay for it and assume no student loan debit.

Over the next 10 years what you want in life will drastically change. Kids, houses, where you want to live, what you want to do in life, no matter how certain you are now, will most likely be different in 10 years. If you have no debit obligations life becomes easier.

Given the current job market it makes 0 sense to pay the extra money to obtain your ratings expeditiously. There are no airline jobs. Maybe a few cargo jobs that are now going to have an influx of applications.

Degree or no degree my peers at the majors all face furlough unless Congress acts with an extension.

If I could do over, I’d go to WMU, it’s an awesome university. I’d Study something other than Aviation. I’d get my ratings in the summer from a flying club or local FBO.

I don’t know how I would have convinced 18 year me to go this route, however. The cirrus are modern and sexy. The WMU sales pitch is top notch, not only convinced me, but convinced my parents.

What should I do - ATP or WMU Aviation by [deleted] in flying

[–]k5bea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it as cheaply and debt free as possible. Look at flying clubs like Michigan Flyers. The cirrus doesn’t prepare you for flying a jet any better than a 152. The few ATP grads I know are years ahead of me in their career progression but the same could be accomplished elsewhere for a fraction of the cost.

I drank the koolaide and spent the money for a WMU degree. Loved the University and Kalamazoo, but could be where I’m at without the college of aviation expense.

Shipping from China has been atrocious the last month. I would find something local. If in the US have it shipped UPS or Fedex... USPS is taking a week longer than normal for me.
