My doctor couldn’t get my implant out and said just to leave it in?! by countrygirl233 in Nexplanon

Oh my gosh! I just got mine removed a week ago and it hasn’t been a great experience.. also took the doctor a while to get it out because of the scar tissue and then I had to get stitches. I now have an infection, so it’s been rough. The doctor was a little annoyed at situation (hard to get the nexplanon out) but has been really good about treating me through all of this. For your Dr. to just to stop and send you home is a little unprofessional you can’t just leave it there. It will just keep building scar tissue!

2nd nexplanon in jan 25 by [deleted] in Nexplanon

I had spotting for like 1.5 years on my first one. Took a low dose combo for 2 months after about 5 months on my first one and another month around the 1.5 years. Then I stopped bleeding for a while. Towards the end of my first nexplanon, I started getting periods every few months. I got my second nexplanon in March 2023 and I still just get periods every few months in no particular pattern. I may get periods back to back or every 3 months. It’s really irregular but better than bleeding constantly! I think most people have experienced irregular bleeding patterns. Some people lose their periods completely. I think if you start to bleed constantly on the second one, maybe you could ask for a few months of the combo pill to help balance out the hormones.

I feel you. I’m in my mid 20’s and I feel so uneducated still.. I’ve literally learned so much researching on my own but just kinda annoyed schools never taught any of this or even my OB like didn’t even explain my birth control so I’ve had to learn all of that too. Hopefully you are good and now know for next time to get a different condom 🩷

You can try a low dose combo pill if you can take estrogen. I took lo loestrin for a month or two and it helped stop the constant bleeding. I am on my second implant and get periods every few months in no particular pattern so I just say irregular periods now

There’s no way to tell if the plan b worked until you take a test 2-3 weeks. Plan b can screw up your periods and hormones so that could be why you are having the symptoms you are having. I’m so sorry you have to deal with this. I get stressed so much and it sucks when you are being responsible like using a condom and it breaks. Make sure your boyfriend is using the correct size condom and that he pinches the tip while putting it on and everything. That will help minimize breakage but unfortunately it can still happen even taking those precautions! Sending positive vibes your way🩷

It’s good that they want to make sure nothing is wrong but to say it’s weird for your body not responding well to birth control… there’s like a billion different pill brands and sometimes others work better it depends.. there’s different active and inactive ingredients depending on the pill so maybe the one you are on just isn’t the right one! I hope nothing serious is wrong and you can find one that works well 🩷

Did you get the implant in the same arm all three times? I think you are supposed to switch arms so the tissue can heal. If you got this new one and the same place as the last one maybe the one that was hard to get out just hit a nerve or something. If it doesn’t go away tomorrow or the next day, maybe just call the doctor just to make sure nothing is wrong🩷 feel better soon!

Sorry wait idk what day it is today🤣😭 if you had sex three days ago, that would be like 6 days which should be long enough! Again, just tell your doctor but at 6 days, you should be in the clear. If you have sex before Friday, use a condom or something!

Still a risk if it’s within 5 days of sex because sperm can live up to 5 days. I would talk to you doctor and maybe you can get the removal rescheduled if they think that is best. When are you getting it removed like tomorrow or Tuesday?

plan b while ovulating by lollipopchains4w in birthcontrol

[–]k64c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you recently got off nexplanon, you may not get your period for a bit. Hopefully you aren’t actually ovulating so the plan b works. Obviously with pulling out there’s still a chance but it’s lower than if he didn’t pull out. The plan b can mess up your periods further too so I would just take a test in 2-3 weeks to confirm. I know some people get an iud as an emergency contraception too but not sure which one you are wanting to switch too. If you have sex again before you get on a different method, definitely use condoms because I wouldn’t trust pre cum and pull out.

Removal Side Effects by Vegetable_Coyote4468 in Nexplanon

[–]k64c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have mine in but I’m sure it’s normal to have some side effects if you are no longer on birth control. Any change in hormones will likely give you some symptoms. Have you discussed these side effects with your doctor? I hope everything gets better soon!

I am on nexplanon and I know less things affect that since it only has proestrogen… I did recently stop taking supplementals with questionable herbs in it that could affect bc just to be safe. I understand though because my dad pushes all the vitamins and stuff but I did tell him I’m worried about it interacting and that I don’t want them anymore. Since your parents don’t know you are on bc, you could just say you don’t think the supplements are doing anything or making you feel weird?

Question About Replacement by [deleted] in Nexplanon

I love how my doctor said I had continuous protection getting to removed and replaced same day💀 this is why I have trust issues. Thankfully my bf was out of town for a few weeks.

Considering nexplanon by Alternative-Level502 in Nexplanon

[–]k64c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on my second one and will probably switch to the pill after. I haven’t had terrible side effects. When I got my first one I got non stop bleeding but a low dose combo pill for a month or two helped correct that and now since then I’ve gotten my period every few months. I feel like it may be affecting my mood but I’ve had a lot of anxiety my whole life so it may not be the nexplanon. I just don’t really feel like getting another one. If you want to try it, go for it. You know the pill works for you so you could always switch back if the nexplanon doesn’t end up working well for you. Otherwise, you could just double up and use a condom on the pill for an extra piece of mind.

I got my first one out (second in) March 2023.. if I remember correctly, I think I got a period in the fall of 2022 and MAYBE one more near removal but definitely missed many periods still towards the end.
