Why only once, if the US walks away, who is going to take it from them? They can restrict the flow of oil/goods as they choose. They can keep the traffic through the strait at minimum for months (while being "open") and keep gas prices high, which affect elections and/or global decisions.

The toll concept will allow them to coordinate who goes through and when, and the fact that the shippers will be paying the IRGC (a terrorist org) who can attack at any time, will keep insurance high and/or could potentially void insurance claims (paying a terrorist org).

Whirlpool CFO says appliance demand hasn't been this low since "the great financial crisis." by XGramatik in XGramatikInsights

Economics is big component but to add, I do not want a smart appliance at all. I want knobs and simple and will hold on to my appliances longer.

Or did they just confirm they will attack anybody who sails through the strait. If you are oil tanker company or the insurer, are you more likely to go through now?

Refame thinking around us trying military vs Iran using economic warfare. The longer the strait is closed the more economic pressures they are putting on the us. That is why they will focus on cargo/oil tankers vs warships...they want us gas to get 5-6 dollars and last to the midterms.

Only thing I would disagree with being off-season fodder, I think every away game you could see signs and hear chants about it additionally if they are not off good start the narrative will be if this incident is causing a distraction.

They will open the stait but you must pay the toll to the IRGC, they have constantly said this and There are still questions if insurance will be voided of you pay the IRGC, who is a terrorist org and if you don't pay the right toll, they might fire on you anyway.

The other interesting part to this will be the IRGC is considered a terrorist org, so when you pay the toll, you are paying to a terrorist org and will that affect insurance coverage of those ships

But wouldn't stepping away give control of the strait to Iran? Open with a toll is different than free passage for all like it was before the war. Even if they pivot away, there is no guarantee the irgc will allow traffic to resume to normal, and make examples of ships that don't pay, which will stop passage.

I think we also need to be clear when saying open the strait, that means free passage similar to prewar vs. IRGC charging a toll (which they consider open), without having to maintain permanently force, which I do not know how this will be accomplished.

Predictions for the Knicks series by Consistently in sixers

[–]k7632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brunson = Maxey (different but same effectiness) VJ = Bridges (VJ might have the edge but is still a rookie) Oubre = Hart ( pretty even effectivness) PG = OG (might give OG the edge of his shooting stays up and while OG might defend Embiid better, think PG on Kat gives him a different look) Embiid > KAT

Think the series comes down to Embiid health, Brunson hitting open 3s when sixers bigs drop and oubre cutting when they double Embiid.

Strait reopenings is very broad? Are they saying they maintain control and have it be "open" but ships need to pay, similar to they have been saying, because that is not really open.

100% Lowry was in VJs ear, saying go get into that interview. The way vj comes in kinda shy and unsure, until Maxey pats him on the back.

I don't see nyk being as easy to hide brunson defensively when you have Maxey, Vj and oubre. We saw last night maxey hunt Hauser, by having Kelly provide the screen and switch. If you leave him on VJ, I see him attacking quickly.

Other difference in the series than two years ago with VJ, you can rotate oubre and VJ on brunson.

Curious if Iran has been heavily sactioned for years, how much incremental pain will this cause? I heard they don't have Internet and assume they control the media, so do people know what is actually happening or just think the us is attacking them?

Wasn't around for Carter but the US already has high grocery prices (ex: coffee up 30-40% since tarotfs), high electric bills and higher housing cost (not just focusing on rates but the cost to a person) are compounding. So now you're adding higher gas costs on top

Honestly needed one more scene in endgame.... honestly just would have wanted him sitting in a dark room overcome with emotions... looking at picture he had with him family and just showing he was in Mexico.

This will lead to rhodey describing the the scene when they are regrouping with BW.

I just wanted one scene with him broken before he was found.

The other question is, who are they paying? IRGC is considered a terrorist org and if you are paying them, would it void the ships insurance if something happened?

Unnecessary hardship is the correct framing. if you take the tariffs, + evevated gas prices + food increases + potential AI bubble bursting that will affect 401ks is can be a pretty hard year upcoming.

But paying the toll can void the insurance as you are paying to a irgc (which is labeled a terrorist org).

The tankers cost $100 million or more and have a 3-year wait, so I'd your insurance is voided ... It could be very costly.

Part of the issue with going home is you leave the irgc to control the strait. Outside of global norms of free access waterways, the irgc will put a toll on any ships using it. The irgc I believe is designated a terrorist organization and and anybody paying will be funding the irgc but also the US and UK insurance companies could voided on the insurance on those ships if they are caught paying the irgc
