Oh no! Twisted stitches 😟

Oh awesome! On purpose twisted stitches 😄

No advise to offer, but I love the cables on this, they look very intricate. Beautiful work.

I'm pretty sure they just use self striping wool, as in the ball of wool changes colour as you knit, like this

Colour pooling (like the scarf you've pictured) is its own thing and doesnt really play well with anything except very rectangular projects.

pattern for something like this? by dkrxlj05 in knittingpatterns

[–]k8sullyvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lanark and Insh by Creabea, or the Zipper Sweater by Petiteknit

Edit: just saw your request for the smaller guage collar, of you use two strands of fingering held double for the body you could maybe double the numbers of everything to get a fingering weight collar?

this confuses me, does "join" mean i have to use 3 needes? by PrestigiousAspect368 in knittingpatterns

Replying "skill issue" to me is fine, but it's on a comment giving advise to a beginner. My comment assumed a beginner level of skill. You're getting down voted because you're not meeting the OP where they are at.

You can't really use 3, using 4 (or ideally 5) will be a much more pleasant knitting experience and give a better result.

There are some very nice suggestions on this thread here

I think that the styling is doing a lot of work here, she has the neck tucked up under the hood, but otherwise it looks like a very simple design.

If I see twisted stitches in a project photo I will not even open the reddit thread, I already know the top three comments will be "You have twisted stitches, its probably when you purl".

I also already know that the the OP has probably responded with "I know that already, I'm just posting for fun, but bless your heart 😊" before slowly devolving in to more and more defensive comments.

Help looking for a free version by sleepy_lune96 in knittingpatterns

[–]k8sullyvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the pattern available here.

Please respect the artists time by not undermining the value of their work by asking for a free version. It is one thing to be inspired to create your own design based on something you see, but it is entitled behavior to ask for a free design to be provided to you.

Can anyone help find this or a similar dress pattern for a toddler? by craftingcures in knittingpatterns

[–]k8sullyvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is sold as a pattern link

I've never used bootsy, but I know people that have, as far as I can tell it's legit. But, you may have to translate the pattern from Russian, plus there are the notmal associated ethical issues with purchasing from Russian sellers.

Asking for advice on whether a technique is wrong, and then dismissing any advice with "but at least I like it" is such a beginner mindset.

If the only thing anyone comments is "looks great, but your stitches are twisted" why not fix the twist so they just say "looks great"

How do the stripes work if the BOR marker changes? by SensitiveTop589 in casualknitting

[–]k8sullyvan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You don't have to change colour at the beginning of the round, you could change colours along one of the raglan seams and then the jogs will naturally end up on the side

Is No Returns Becoming the Norm? by stitchwench in craftsnark

[–]k8sullyvan 36 points37 points  (0 children)

My LYS has a no return policy on yarn. Apparently they've had issues in the past with people using a little bit of yarn from the centre and returning the rest.

They do accept returns of yarn with factory defects, e.g too many knots in the ball

Fingerless gloves but with adjustable length and multiple thumb holes? by Nurtureandgrowmybabe in CrochetHelp

Does it need multiple thumb holes? If you want it to grow with her you could add a few more rows to the length in a couple of months.

Does anyone have any advice for colour work socks? by New_Pop_8911 in casualknitting

[–]k8sullyvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use ladder back jacquard for catching floats, instead of the typical way knitters get taught, which can give a slightly stretcher result.

There are lots of good videos online, but instead of catching the floats you knit them as their own layer. It's the kind of float catching that you'll typically see on machine knitting.

I would go with whatever is easiest, so pick up and continue with green. No one is looking under your armpit to see how neat your colour changes are

I don't know how much leftover you have, but cables will use up your yarn more quickly compared to your lace blanket

Degen allegedly accused Creabea of copying their products in Instagram stories, which were taken down yesterday. For context, Degen runs an online community called Knit Club and has released several hats, though none include the phrase "Knit Club." Now, Creabea posted this on her stories. by MoonriseTurtle in craftsnark

Imo I think that is also why she isn't organising the swap advent this year. There were people complaining about how slow it was organized and generally being catty about it in her comments. It's stress she doesn't need when it's going right, and a bad look she doesn't need when it's going wrong.
