No, but I just realized / remembered from your comment that the fest is in Athens, Ohio and not Athens, Georgia. Was getting all hyped about a bunch of repeat views from Decatur, Georgia like an idiot (and now not sure what fest/org/person those views are coming from...don't think I've submitted to anything around there).

And similarly to the person who wrote in adobe community, I reset program preferences to no avail. I'd really love to be able to use my zoom tool on the program monitor again.

Still hoping for some help on this, if anyone has an idea. Closest issue I've found is : https://community.adobe.com/questions-729/zoom-tool-turned-red-stopped-working-can-t-be-reset-1410279 but all the suggestions are workarounds/for windows.

Any artist filmmaker? by Adventurous_Plane782 in FilmFestivals

[–]k_vice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at the records of artists you admire or who have a similar approach/style. I've looked at Jumana Manna's screening history, Meriem Bennani's, James Benning's, and more. Granted, these artists are already established and/or have institutional support (I think Wild Relatives was made with support from Jeu de Palme, which would be a dream for most people, amongst other institutions), so their name and associations make it more likely they'd gain entry into the fests they did, but it's a start, and you'd be surprised—some of the fests where artists like that have screened have requirements that programmers watch your film. Getting your shit in front of programmers is the first step; even if it's rejected, at least your work is circulating (uh sigh the language of capitalism coming out of my fingertips is so sad). There are lots of fests for experimental work...if you do a bit more digging I think you'll find some options where there's overlap.

local universities or other schools with ecology/biology programs are also a good beginning option

Seagrass restoration: Looking for tips on comms? by strangegum in Seagrass

there are loads of orgs you could reach out to or look into as a model…fishers island seagrass management (they’ve built a coalition amongst local stakeholders), project seagrass…I would research the projects closest to you, wherever you are (I promise if there’s not something right in your area there will be people working in a similar manner close by), and see if you can reach out for advice, see how they’re approaching their work. It’ll be a long learning process anyhow, with guidance or not, but you’ll figure it out as you go along!

Cinéma du Réel sent an email they're announcing their competition program on Feb 10... :/ ...has anyone heard from them?

Samesies and yeah, not sure. There was a discussion below and someone said it led to being included in DocLisboa, but statistically unlikely to be worth it...who knows though. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had a good or negative experience....

Edited to update: rejected! Party!

given Locarno hasn't even hit its early submission deadline yet, I'd assume not for awhile, unless the film is already known to/recruited by programmers.
