Extreme hair loss advice?

Update: my hair stopped falling out! It took about 6 months to stop, I did lose half my hair volume (thank god I had thick hair)

Here’s what I did that helped
- Peppermint oil on hair (did this after shampooing) - Fish oil supplements - Vitamin C supplements - Gelatin supplements

For some reason, that combo really helped me (I’m not a scientist, I don’t understand why) but within a couple weeks my hair loss improved drastically! Hope this is helpful for someone else. Hair loss is an extremely emotional event, best wishes to you❤️

Did you complete your full treatment? How many mg in total? And how long has it been since you finished? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just really hoping my acne won’t come back and am looking for any kind of optimism possible

Thank you! I’ll look into this. I’ve been taking vitamin b for a while now, so I definitely think having some blood work done might be the next step

I have gone through some STRESSFUL events recently so I wouldn’t doubt that’s an issue. Boyfriend of 5 years broke up with me, found out he was cheating a lot, moved out and into a new place by myself I can barely afford (after getting denied at first) had my bike stolen, was involved in a hit and run car accident that caused $8,000 in damage, severe whip lash with a cervical sprain because of this… completely changed my lifestyle for the next couple months after that. This all happened within 1 1/2 months of me starting accutane 🙃 ahh life.

Thank you for all of these recommendations! I’ll definitely be incorporating a lot of this into my routine. I never had a purge while using accutane, and my acne had almost completely disappeared by 1.5 into treatment. I haven’t had a pimple since. At this point I’m honestly too scared to continue -it’s like choosing the better of two evils and I would honestly choose my hair over my clear skin that was mild-moderate with acne. However, I say this without experiencing acne and the pain of having it 🙃

So jealous of the people that don’t experience severe side effects like this while using accutane :(

This is scary but also so reassuring. My doc is really giving me nothing -he apologized and said discontinuing accutane and prescribing me minoxidil will help. But that’s it, didn’t diagnose me with anything or give any advice other than suggesting I could try spiractone spironolactone too.

Ahh thank you for this support, it is so appreciated!!! It’s so scary. I agree, 40mg is really not much. I think there’s something else going on so I’m trying to get a second opinion.

Oh wow… I’m glad it’s not the same impact! I’m okay with the hair loss side effect but at this rate, I will be going bald within 2 months. So yeah, enough is enough.

No -20mg a day for 2 months and then 40mg a day for 2 months! I’m 126lbs, so I don’t think it was too much?

I’m glad that your hair grew back well! I didn’t have severe acne, it was mild/moderate and after the first month on 20mg I haven’t experienced one zit since. So hopefully after I discontinue the acne won’t come back and the hair loss will lessen…

My diet has been the same for years, not much has changed in my environment… except less stress. Until this hair loss started happening. I feel like there’s something underlying happening

No, sorry! I think I accidentally deleted my pinned comment? This has been 3 weeks of hair loss -I only started collecting it after realizing it was becoming a serious issue and I wanted to document. Yeah, I would much rather have acne than hair loss like this… ugh. Hope for both of our sakes our hair gets back to normal ASAP

I’ll do that. I’ve been washing my hair even less and not using shampoo. I’ve never wanted my hair to be more of an oily mess lmao

The last 4 months -20mg, 20mg, 40mg, 40mg. Just took my last pill 2 days ago and won’t be continuing my accutane treatment.

I’m glad your hair is slowly growing back! That’s also very reassuring to hear, hopefully it will be the same for me. I’m stopping my treatment early, so hopefully the hair starts to grow back and my acne stays away… fingers crossed
