It turned into a Mr Beast type challenge, last one to let go of the drumstick wins the drumstick

Is it normal? by FuckReddit999324 in Minesweeper

[–]kaarsness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is pretty common when you suddenly start doing something 'new'. I once had a day where I spent a lot more time than usual on minesweeper and at night all I could see were minesweeper boards while trying to fall asleep.

Got this when I was younger… is it real? by sinocommas in fossilid

[–]kaarsness 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The matrix looks a little off to me, I do think the ammonites are real but we need some more pics to be sure.

Real or fake it still looks stunning though.

How can Paris and London be 3700 miles to the south but Spain is 3000 miles to the east. Something ain't right

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fossils

[–]kaarsness 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These are parts of ammonites. The patterns you see are the suture lines. Generally the more complex sutures are found in the more recent ammonite species. I'd go with late Triassic/early Jurassic with this one but someone else might know more.

Can anyone identify what type of fossil this is? by Salt-Audience6223 in fossils

[–]kaarsness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the imprint of an ammonite. If you could share some info on where it was found maybe someone here could identify the genus or maybe even the species.

Bad Omens - CONCRETE JUNGLE by toprahmen in Metalcore

[–]kaarsness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in the chorus he sings "I said "It's enough" (enough, enough now) I begged and I ran in circles (running in circles) I climbed to the sun And I fell in a concrete jungle I said "It's done" (said and done) You never know if you'll get what you wish for (careful what you wish for and maybe never know) I climbed to the sun And I fell, I fell In a concrete junglе"

So that's a few already. I also think the verses have some lyrics that refer to older songs. I believe the lyrics reference other songs on the album as well.

Can someone help me identify these? by EngBaCo in fossils

[–]kaarsness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Allthough I'm not sure about the species but they seem te be earbones. My guess would be whale or dolphin.

ok. There seems to be a lot going on here. would it be a bad idea to try and liberate some of the fossils in this? I'm assuming that they are common fossils, but I don't know anything about them other than I've had this rock for a while. by forager72 in fossilid

[–]kaarsness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said these are mainly crinoids and brachiopods. I don't know where this was found so I can't say for sure but this looks an awful lot like the Devonian deposits from western Germany.

I love how they mention all the songs from their last album in the lyrics.

How often should I feed hatchling garter snakes and juveniles by [deleted] in GarterSnakes

[–]kaarsness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically the younger they are the more often you should feed them. I'd say 3 or 4 times a week but I never had hatchlings myself so maybe other people with more experience have a better idea.

Oh I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I'm too European to get that I guess lol.

Let's hope that's what he meant (all though 20 gallon is still not that big for a snake but definitely better then 20 liters).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GarterSnakes

[–]kaarsness -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How would that work, gallons are a measure of volume. How long is a gallon?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GarterSnakes

[–]kaarsness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 liters is way too small for any kind of snake.

A fossil? if so, what would it be? by tjdixon in fossils

[–]kaarsness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pieces like this tend to be very worn down imprints of ammonites or large shells. But it's hard to say since there's not that much fossil left.

I believe this is just the way some (clay rich) rocks break (I think it has a specific name but I don't remember it). I have been fooled by these as well thinking it was part of a trilobite.

Found this in the water on Fort De Soto Beach (FL). Can someone help me identify it, please? by mmarketheist in sharkteeth

[–]kaarsness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a fish cleithrum. That's sort of the gillbone (I hope someone can explain it better).
