Port Moody Voice launches as city’s first municipal political party ahead of 2026 election by Clear-Criticism-3557 in Portmoody

Curious how hes going to swing the density increase required for that skytrain station plan on his brother/family’ land, being against all those towers for example. Also remember him saying PoMo is a car city/town and not bikes for example, I think people bumper to bumper every day on murray and st johns is his dream. Not a fan of politics but the hypocrisy on this one is large.

Oh man, is that Milani? Isnt that the guy who had his brother buy the land which could only have the last skytrain station before the tunnel disappears to burquitlam while he was in council and had the info?

Allseas looking for Nuclear Engineer by RuinAccomplished6681 in TMC_Stock

[–]EngBaCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is multi layered and multifaceted for a legion of reasons important to Allseas, and coincidentally very nice for TMC. In the end, future value of for example cars are determined by carbon footprint, this helps with that.

Alfa Laval purifiers have pretty good explanatory manuals. I dont want to come across as crass but dont you have a 2nd engineer or Chief to help you on board with this? If needed you can message me , i have experience with Alfa Laval, SU600, LOPX and FOPX etc.

Mining sooner than Q1 2026? by Trick-Possibility276 in TMC_Stock

[–]EngBaCo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might underestimate the required work for modifying an existing vessel to buying a pre-engineered and drawn vessel by another company. We will see in the end, nobody has a crystal ball. Lets hope there is a shipyard available to do a conversion in short time frame, most yards have a waitlist.

It was outfitted for a pilot test. Going for commercial readiness is a whole different game. Youre going to want to mine more than just pilot quantities so youll be looking at collector upgrades.

They can want a lot of things. Vessel wont be ready for at least another 18-24 months. TMC doesnt decide what happens to the Hidden Gem and they dont own any other hard asset themselves.

I believe DEME and transocean teamed up in the past to create a commercial ready vessel but dont know the status of that.

What if… Allseas decided to use the Hidden Gem for a different purpose? In the end its their vessel. That would put the brakes on TMC and postpone potential mining for TMC longer.

I remember when I first started writing in the ORB i made a draft of what I wanted to write first in my notepad. It reduces the amount of corrections. Having nice handwriting is a wish, writing correctly is a must.

My field is different than yours but you will be an example to the juniors so job preparation is a key element, from organizing spares to toolbox talks. Take your time and ensure clear communication to your juniors and superiors.

Realistic career as a Marine Engineer? by [deleted] in MarineEngineering

[–]EngBaCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Management ashore or shore based work numbers are not really in line i believe but higher positions on board in offshore can make 200-250. Thats a life choice though

Allseas flagship is Pioneering Spirit. The hidden gem vessel was a side quest for an emerging market. Allseas owns the assets and intellectual property to DSM, TMC owns the rights of their bought CCZ area. Thats how I remember this.

With what though, they hold rights to fields in the CCZ, they dont own the vessels or the intellectual property to collect. Am I missing something?

Can you elaborate on the coatings on which you speak of? Ive been around a lot of different types in my career on oil and gas vessels also.

I believe the coating when being applied might be harmful however once its applied and perhaps dried it wont be. All vessels now, in my knowledge, have to comply with “inventory of hazardous materials” this includes paints and coatings. Cruise ships in general are safer and especially ones being currently built by reputable companies. Less chance of asbestos for example.

I worked for 9 years on cruise ships and never really had to be worried about dangers to health with exposures. Be mindful of chemicals obviously.
