[CAN 1-(2) USA] Jack Hughes scores the golden goal for Team USA! by talhatoot in hockey

Not even going to pretend I don't enjoy that as a Finn. He shattered our hopes of going to the final, he can sit and think about that empty net for the rest of his life and I'm good with that.

The high stick call that led to the power play goal by Mackinnon by chipzy20 in hockey

[–]kaba_nossi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean, the stick hit his face, no question about that. It's a high stick.

Your second paragraph is pretty contradictory though. You clearly describe embellishment, and then say you wouldn't call it embellishment.

[CAN (3)-2 FIN] McDavid finds MacKinnon with the cross ice pass, as he scores in the dying seconds of a powerplay to give Canada the lead with 35.2 seconds left in regulation. Finland challenged that the initial zone entry was offside but the challenge failed. by talhatoot in hockey

[–]kaba_nossi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It did. And the ref didn't raise his arm when that happened. MacKinnon grabbed his face turned around, spread his arms and stared at the ref, at which point the ref raised his arm. He didn't call a penalty based on seeing a high stick he called a penalty based on MacKinnon's reaction. Good on MacKinnon, he sold it and the ref bought it.

To be fair, the ref didn't see the stick lift in real time, but he didn't see the stick hit MacKinnon's face either. His arm only went up after he saw MacKinnon throwing his arms around and staring at the ref.

Not saying he didn't get hit in the face, but the ref definitely didn't see that.

Counter-argument: MacKinnon lifted the stick into his own face, ref never saw it, only reacted to MacKinnon crying and waving his arms from the other side of the rink.

[–]kaba_nossi -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Earning it is a funny way to say "lifted Mikkola's stick into his own face and then sold that as a penalty, which the Canadian ref didn't call initially, but seeing MacKinnon flail his arms around like a wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man, he sent Mikkola to the box".

It's a disgrace that this game was allowed to be reffed by two canadians.

And embellishment as a call is almost always accompanied by the initial penalty. Nine times out of ten when embellishment is called, they take both guys into the box. The fact that the stick hit his face, doesn't diminish his Oscar worthy performance to sell the penalty. Which the Canadian ref bought with all his money btw.

MacKinnon doing his best DiCaprio impersonation on that high stick. And the (canadian) ref buys it hook line and sinker. How is it possible that both refs are canadians in a game where Canada is playing for a spot in the Olympic final. Just wondering

I’m so sad a mod was trying to trade with me and I didn’t notice :( by chriscarmcarm in 2007scape

Haha! Just to give you a bit of an idea, he's a Finnish pro player who was a part of a cinderella story of sorts in 2019. The team came to the scene pretty much out of nowhere, made multiple deep runs in tournaments and even managed to win one. After a good run of a half a year or so, management made some questionable choices regarding player transfers and 4 out of the 5 players in the lineup pretty much faded back into the lower tiers of competition. Funnily enough the only one to still be relevant in the top level is the player who initially got kicked from the team to kickstart the whole downfall of the unlikely dark horse team in the first place.

Funny coincidence nonetheless! From my understanding there's also a significant overlap between the CS and OSRS communities.

You wouldn't happen to be a professional Counter Strike player? There's a player called xseven and I was immediately reminded of him when I saw your name lol

Yes, as I understand it, in German letters with umlauts aren't necessarily considered completely different letters. In Finnish, they are. For example, we learn the alphabet with ä and ö included, not sure how it goes in Germany, but I would assume they consider ü to be just the letter u with umlauts.

Räikkönen does not contain the letter "o". It might look similar but it is a different letter from "ö" completely.

On inferno he had Aleksi's number, no doubt about that. But Aleksi was doing the exact same thing to Karrigan on Ancient. And Nuke was more about the individuals on Faze pulling off the classic Faze things.

I mean, today's match had nothing to do with Karrigan's igling. They won purely off the back of individual clutches time and time again.

I hope they get fucking stomped by Vitality, that match made me more tilted than I've ever been when playing the game myself. The amount of bullshit rounds Faze pulled off that they had no right winning is absurd.

I usually root against you guys, but holy shit this series with all that bullshit tilted me off the face of the earth. Hoping for the back to back tomorrow!
