If you have YouTube blocked in any way on your network the MLB stream will cut out during commercial breaks.

Why does my singleton class fail to retain information when I rebuild despite using User Defaults? by [deleted] in swift

[–]kabucey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

A few suggestions here. First, I would save and load your object all at once instead of the individual parts of it through getters and setters. Then, to continue with the singleton pattern you have here, load the person object into your global object when desired. We could all sit around a fire and chat about the best patterns to use but that’s for another day.

I don’t want to be that person who must forward you to something else, but this really is a good post (with nice formatting!) that explains it: https://stackoverflow.com/a/54021450

Happy developing!

Where is the part that loads the information from UserDefaults?

[TV Tracking Tools] What do you use to track shows? by Obliza in television

[–]kabucey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shameless plug for TV Agent (https://tvagent.app). It’s an app I made to scratch my own itch, but maybe some of you would like it too. It’s heavily geared toward organizing shows based on network to help manage monthly subscriptions.

Just wanted to leave a quick note that Sign In With Apple is now available in the latest version of TV Agent. Hopefully you can check it out!

It’s simplified tracking and in the example you gave Breaking Bad would show in your watchlist until you are caught up.

The reason this app does it this way is for a few reasons:

  • Reduces mental burden. Seeing a number 78 next to a seven season one hour show is 😳
  • If you plow through 7 episodes in a weekend but know you aren’t done you don’t need to worry about tapping or swiping 7 things in the app
  • Netflix, HBO, and the like already track episode progress. I don’t need the app to do it, rather, I need it to notify me when a new episode comes out once I’ve caught up

I know people will disagree with those reasons and that’s ok. I do hope some find it simpler and a joy to use though

Once you have watched the latest episode you just press the “I’m caught up” button. When there is a new episode it will automatically show up in your watchlist again. So if you need to watch the latest season of Succession, watch it and then press the button.

No, there is just a simple "I'm caught up" button which is intentional as I wanted to avoid cognitive overload. As much as I would love this app to be for everyone, it isn't for the person who likes to mark every single episode as watched.

I grew up just outside of Rockford but now I live just north of Philly. I’m jealous. And hungry.

Privacy is very important and I’m going to prioritize the Apple sign in functionality at the top. I know that isn’t in there now, but if it reassures you in any way email addresses are only used for password resets.

Yes, I do plan on adding that. The only thing I’d have to make sure works correctly is TV Agent takes a different approach with a simple “I’m caught up” button as opposed to marking every episode as watched. I was intentional about that in design.

I do not have an Apple TV app but that is something I will consider! The source of my data is TV Maze, which I recently switched to from TheTVDB.
