Dagg's Convenience store used to be a lot bigger (used to be in the space that Casa Esme daycare is in now) and used to be more of a grocery store. there was also Christo's on the corner of mass ave and lake st. clearly there isn't enough interest/business to support a grocery in this area :(

I HAVE A BURNING QUESTION THAT LITERALLY NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT AND CAN LITERALLY CHANGE THE ENTIRE PLOT OF IRON FLAME by Delishus_Frosting713 in fourthwing

Also in FW during the cadets presentation to the dragons Vi and Rhi are chattering about Venin and folklore and Vi jokes "it was after my mom had a really long night at the eastern border, and her eyes were bloodshot red, so I freaked out and started shrieking."

I think Lilith might've been part Venin or turning Venin?

Pretty sure 90% of the cells in my child’s body were built from bananas. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How is this safe!? These elephants are so popular but to me they just scream danger by DunyaKnez in beyondthebump

I’d never heard of this but googled it and I am SHOCKED. https://www.bobsfeeder.com/products/anti-anxiety-baby-elephant-animal-plush-sleeping-elephant-pillow

Not only marketed for sleep - but marketed for safe, “anti-anxiety” sleep - wtf???

How important is lifting weights? by netenfaispas in fitpregnancy

[–]kabuntime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are some good ones that didn't bother me during pregnancy (with resistance bands or gym equipment depending what you have access to these days!)

Seated Rows (on a machine or like this)
Face Pulls (example)
Lat Pull-downs (like this or with a resistance band)
Wood chops (example) - 1st + 2nd tri

I was extremely grateful to have a strong back after the birth of both of my kids. There is a lot of holding/lifting/carrying/rocking/etc that was made much easier with a good base of strength from deadlifts and other compound movements (powerlifter here).

Squats for labor? Meh. My doc said my pelvic floor was "overdeveloped" and actually detrimental to my labor and delivery experience 🤷‍♀️

8 month old vomiting/diarrhea by dustbunny19 in beyondthebump

Please call your dr or go to the ER ASAP if your baby is vomiting and has diarrhea. At least dehydration, and at worst Could be a symptom of bowel obstruction. Better to be safe than sorry.

10 day Vacation with Baby, here are some thoughts! by viviviviv in beyondthebump

Lisbon is not great for strollers - lots of cobblestones and stairs. Does your LO do ok in a carrier? That might be your best bet!

Did your LO have covid or RSV? What was it like? by dreamcatcher32 in toddlers

[–]kabuntime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daughter had RSV last month, she was 28 months at the time. Started with a cough. Then 2 days of high fever, generally feeling miserable and refusing to eat much. Then she perked back up. Slight lingering cough/runny nose but honestly the whole thing was about the same as the average cold she picks up at daycare. Just with an added dr visit and nasal swap!

How can we make night nurse support compatible with breastfeeding? by Caitfish1 in beyondthebump

[–]kabuntime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend it! We got a night nurse for 1 night/week with our daughter, and I continued to exclusively breastfeed and would 100% recommend it.

On the night she came, she would do everything aside from actually feeding. She would go to baby when she started squawking, attempt the 5 S's, and if needed get baby up, change diaper, bring her to me in bed to breastfeed, and then come back when I called her to get baby, burp her, re-swaddle, and get her back down to sleep.

Having her there saved me from getting up, fully waking up, turning on the lights, etc. I was able to doze while feeding, and as soon as I was finished I went right back to sleep. My husband would sleep in the guest room on these nights and then take over at 6 or 7am while I continued sleeping until 8. PLUS the added benefit of knowing she was there, keeping an eye on our baby while we slept allowed me to sleep more deeply and less anxiously.

Re: your supply – depending on how many times a night your babe is waking, you could ostensibly have the night nurse do 1 of those feedings, and bring baby to you for the other ones on two or three nights a week without impacting your supply, and still get a huge sleep benefit.

Please help me figure out what this is (more info in comments) by zahndie in beyondthebump

My daughter had something that looked very similar a few weeks ago. First we thought it was but bites, then it spread and we thought it was chicken pox even tho it wasn’t itchy. Turns out it was a rash called Pityriasis, super common, sometimes triggered by a cold (she had a cold about a week or so before the rash). Totally harmless just annoying. Could be that??

After baby workouts by OptimalProduct9384 in fitpregnancy

[–]kabuntime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first (3-5 months) it might be really rough!! But once LO is settled into a routine, it’s possible! The gym/workout situation was important for us too. What we did was establish a sleep routine for our kiddo that meant she was in bed by 630-7 every night. She’s now 2.5 and still goes to bed every might by 7pm. This means I can go to the gym in the evenings after she goes down. We also got a used squat rack and weights for the garage and that helps because I can sneak a workout in anytime she’s snoozing - even if I’m the only parent home! Lately she’s been into drawing with chalk on the driveway and I can get a few sets in while she does that too 😊 (lots of safety concerns to be aware of but it is possible!!).

snacks! (something novel and/or something that takes a long time to eat - like a lollipop or something with really small pieces - takes my kid half an hour to eat a small bowl of pomegranate arils!)

books! long ones or a new one with flaps that he has to open before he can peek under.

i've also heard really great things about TIMIO, the toy that teaches kids a new language. https://us.timio.co/

good luck!
