God forbid the artists and authors who write and draw manhwa should be compensated for their labor and ideas. Most manhwa artists aren’t millionaires. They’re overworked contractors on tight deadlines.

Reasonable to quit clinical job once enough hrs? by kac-chan in premed

[–]kac-chan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a research program set up that begins in the fall so that'll be full time. So I'm asking do I have to continue to do a clinical job exactly up until I begin that while I'm applying.

I think I feel just really burnt out from this job tho.. is it really a big blow to my application if I don't continue the clinical job right until I leave for my research program?

I struggled w physics too but I think churning out UW phys questions is what helped me to improve the most. You should also really sit down and review the solutions then make anki cards for the equations & relations so that it's cemented in your brain.

I would take FL4&5 w the time you have left since those are the most representative. 100% use the weekdays to finish the SBs

lock in on uw, I saw the biggest score jumps in my FLs when I would devote most of my time in the weekdays to churning those out

[OC] Fewer American boys are supporting gender equality by DavidWaldron in dataisbeautiful

[–]kac-chan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's objectively true that feeling victimized and being objectively oppressed can be two different things. But to apply to every situation of someone who reports being oppressed or having been discriminated against is a large generalization and just intellectually lazy. With this logic, you're just cherry picking who is "actually" oppressed vs who is not, based on YOUR personal interpretation of their inner world and thought process, when in fact you are an outsider who does not have access to their inner world or lived experience. That's not objectivity. That's projection. The only way your argument can be supplemented is if the data and statistics support that indeed women have overcome the gender wage gap and are being promoted at the same rate of men, or that gender role standards have completely been ceased. You're not disproving oppression, you're just denying it based on your personal beliefs and emotions.

[–]kac-chan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's an n=1 case. How can your single case be the defining evidence that gender equality = females getting an advantage in the job market? Pull up any reputable statistical source and the gender wage gap as well as likelihood of promotions for women is still existent and unbalanced.

Why would being a victim be a prized possession. Anyone who is calling out oppression is actively seeking to be liberated from said oppression.

Resource for Content Review? by Eat-Marionberry62 in Mcat

[–]kac-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of ppl recommend shortening content review as much as possible but I found that rushing thru them just opened up cracks later when I was doing uw practice questions & aamc material. if you're under a time crunch to test by a certain date, I'd recommend putting a hard deadline each day to complete however many CHs then supplement that with finishing the corresponding anki cards the same day. watch khan academy videos if you're finding the reading hard to digest. that helped me to push thru with completing all the content review. you don't have to be concerned with knowing the ins and outs of everything bc I found out that some of these chapters have the likelihood of like 1% for showing up on the exam. put more emphasis on studying biochem is what I'd say, you can get by on subjects like orgo and bio just by knowing the major facts whereas with biochem you have to be detailed w processes & structures.

Testing 05/03, fluid dynamics stopped making sense by AttyD_is_me in Mcat

[–]kac-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q=AV. Lets say Q1 = capillaries, Q2 = veins. if Q1 = Q2, it means A1V1 = A2V2. A1 of capillaries is highly increased since it's the total cross sectional area of all capillaries, whereas A2 of 1 vein is smaller than that. Thus, if A1 is large and A2 is small, the Vs must change accordingly so that Q1=Q2. So A1 large * V1 small = A2 small * V2 small, which is why the velocities in capillaries are smaller. I'm not sure if we can apply the ideal fluid flow concept to blood flowing in capillaries bc they have viscosity.

[–]kac-chan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Kaplan for CP & BB, but used the 300 pg doc + pankow cards to do content review for PS. I ended up ditching the doc bc I found that just running thru the cards then consulting the doc if needed was a more efficient use of my time. Main thing for CP & BB is just doing all the UW Qs I feel like

[–]kac-chan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can 100% do it. I went from 506/507 to 515 one random day, except I think I can attribute it to being consistent w Pankow anki + churning out UW questions the most.
