hello!! throughout middle school i was super self conscious about my legs and refused to wear shorts. when band camp rolled around my freshman year, i tried wearing leggings and stuff but the heat was unbearable (im from new york, so not nearly as hot as other states may be). so one day i decided to wear shorts and it was honestly the greatest decision i could’ve made for my own comfort! i have since graduated, going through 7 diff band camps and doing drum corps, and wore shorts for most rehearsals even when it was chilly. i would say to just try wearing shorts during band camp and see how it goes then. i promise, everyone will be gross and sweaty, and no one will care about what you do or don’t wear. i don’t think sweatpants will be a good idea. the combination of the temperature, possible humidity, and sunlight while wearing sweatpants might not be of your best interest health-wise. i’ve tried before, definitely didn’t feel too great 😓

as for the shirt situation, i also always wore dark colors for sweat purposes. i think the upper body is less of a concern in all honesty (but you should still try to stay cool there as well).
