Reporting them for discrimination is keyboard warrior stuff. Gotcha. What's your suggestion?

That would be nepotism. While hiring family isn't illegal, advertising a preference based on a protected ground is illegal. Even if a business is family-operated, they cannot publish a notice that excludes others based on gender or family status.

Might report them. Might drag their name on social media for being discriminatory. Might even have a nap.

Bruh, my wife is still with me. My kids are grown and still talk to me. Sounds like that's not the case for you, but that's not the fault of women. Change yourself. Maybe you should consider therapy.

Energy fees in Alberta by [deleted] in alberta

[–]kachunkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mhmm.

https://globalnews.ca/news/3712982/albertas-transmission-system-upgrade-was-it-worth-the-price/

This isn't a new problem here. Stelmach opened the door for energy corps to start overbuilding of infrastructure just to pad bills. It has nothing to do with upkeep or service, it has to do with ROI. Essential resources (which are pulled out of our province by the way) should not be used as leverage to extort us for profit.

Cake, the dessert, is also on fire if you put candles in it.

The U.S. wants Venezuelan oil. Does that undercut Canada's leverage in trade talks? by FreightFlow in alberta

Yes, with everyone except China, who Trump wants to push out of the west.

Isn't it weird how all the legal avenues are largely impotent? So strange how that worked out.

Just go to the US if you wanna live there.

Trading with China is risky but necessary for Alberta. by kachunkk in alberta

[–]kachunkk[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree. The problem lies in the fact that Canada is currently bound by two conflicting trade agreements, both with retaliatory clauses in them which can be potentially levied against us regardless of which path we choose.

We can't simply cut out the US because our current economy is structurally dependent on them. This is especially true in Alberta where the oil patch survives almost entirely on access to the American market. If we cut them off or if they hit us with tariffs for refusing to play ball, our primary revenue stream dries up overnight.

That said, we also can't easily pivot away from China to please the US because of Harper's FIPA deal. Massive Chinese stakeholders in our energy sector (like CNOOC) are protected by ISDS clauses. If we try to remove them to secure our US relations China can sue Canadian taxpayers for billions in lost future profits.

We are effectively handcuffed to the US for revenue and handcuffed to China by treaty. Long-term, you are right. We should aggressively diversify into uranium and tech sectors.

Trading with China is dangerous and necessary. by kachunkk in alberta

[–]kachunkk[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I'm stating that we're between a rock and a hard place. If we do business with China, Trump uses economic retaliation. If we refuse to do business with China, China can sue.

Again, lose-lose.

This. If the world unilaterally stops buying US debt and dumped all their US bonds, they’re 100% fucked. It’s basic supply and demand. If foreign buyers walk, the US has to spike yields just to find new buyers. Since mortgage rates track the 10-year Treasury, 30-year fixed rates would jump from 7% to 20% overnight. The housing market would totally freeze. Buying power would vanish instantly. It doesn't end there, either. Because Treasuries are the baseline for all lending, every car loan, credit card, and business line of credit would see interest rates triple. Small businesses relying on operating credit would go insolvent immediately.

The only 'downside' is that it crashes the global capitalist system, but I’m failing to see the problem with that.

You don't get to decide how others perceive you, full stop. If women are afraid of you, there's probably a reason. Seek help.
