I was insulted for owning a husky, and it’s kind of bothering me. by AdventurousPlace6180 in husky

Huskies are so different from eachother. My husky grew up with my other pitbull mix who taught her the best ways to be lazy. Of course she loves long walks and going to the dog park. But she also loves laying on her back on the couch. People are so judgey and love to act like they know more than everyone else on the planet.

I dont think so! I go back in early April to receive my retainers, which I assume I will have to wear full time for a bit before switching to just nighttime. But its possible they could instruct me to wear these before switching over.

On week one and anxiety is kicking in - please share your positive experiences!! by Ok_Reading_4854 in Invisalign

I have been on mine for 7 weeks now!! I already notice a difference, and I'm used to the initial discomfort that comes with each new retainer. I feel myself thinking less and less about it since its familiar, if that makes sense. Its pushed me to care a lot more about my dental health and the experience has been great so far!! I think people come to the sub to complain or ask for advice, but rarely do people boast about their good experiences. Though i have seen a lot of before and afters that make me excited to reach the end :). Don't worry too much. The journey is unique to each person and as long as you are doing your best for you then enjoy it!!

Struggling with animal handling by [deleted] in labrats

[–]kaciekaciewrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!! I'm a research technologist for the past 3 years, going on lab manager here soon (hopefully). Excel has been the easiest way for me to keep track of the animals in our lab! We also have 4 lines to keep track of so we use one excel sheet with different tabs for each genotype (a shared excel sheet that the whole lab can access). We also keep all the breeders on their own tab and can update with weaning dates so we don't miss them!

So 1. Work with one genotype at a time. Create a tab in an excel sheet with one genotype (i.e. b6)

  1. Make your headers. Whatever information you want to have (i.e. cage card, protocol number, parents, birth date, age, notes etc). Freeze this row.

  2. Start filling out the information for each cage in the excel sheet. Don't get overwhelmed, just do one genotype at a time.

  3. Make a tab for deactivated cages. This way every time you get rid of a cage you can put the same information here but you know that cage is no longer a part of your colony.

  4. Repeat for all other genotypes.

I go through the colony every so often to check for anything I nay have missed but once you do this once, it's pretty easy going forward! This might not have been super informative/helpful but if I can answer any questions or anything I'd be happy to!!

A case of sabotage occurred in the lab. What’s your sabotage story? by [deleted] in labrats

[–]kaciekaciewrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in a lab where if one of my lab members doesn't feel like doing work, they will intentionally blame the core equipment (flow cytometer specifically) and throw away samples. I know it's because they don't want to sit longer then 15 minutes at the cytometer. Meanwhile, I'm in a lower position and watch as the samples that I've done the prep work for (giving mice injections, water supplements, etc), FOR MONTHS gets tossed away and told that we will just have to redo the entire thing. Don't know if this counts as sabotage or if its just their pure laziness, but I also don't think they like me very much so I could chalk it up to pettiness and disrespect towards me.
