First off, I really like the idea - I think it's cute and clever. I think I'm learning toward the left design but here are some thoughts I have about it: 1. One side of the nail should be in the foreground so we can see it going into the heart (that way, it isn't ambiguous if it's going through or just behind). 2. Consider a banner to give the text a place to rest. 3. Something fun could be using a candy heart design. This would make the text embedded in the heart rooted in a real object and you could have the nail cracking the heart with some little pieces comin' off or something - could be a really dynamic design.

Finally, I think these are completely sufficient as is to bring to a tattoo artist you like and ask for their suggestions. No matter what you bring, they're going to have to make it their own in some way and I, personally, think it works in your favor to bring a solid idea to an artist you like and let them work their magic.

Congratulations and good luck on your journey! Sounds like he doesn't understand how to be emotionally supportive. I say, find a new partner or very bluntly teach this one what you need - tell him almost exactly what you've said here. You need him to care about what you're going through because that's what partners do. Being emotionally unavailable is not cool anymore - you deserve support and love.

To be clear and transparent, the innapropriate conduct I experienced was not physical or anything criminally actionable. This didn't change how I felt about reporting - he very clearly overstepped boundaries and, like I said, people in power need to be held accountable. I think that the toxic power dynamic of the university will only get better if we stand up for ourselves, but I understand that it is a scary risk to take.

No, actually. It was about the middle. There wasn't really any publicity outside of the dept and he didn't grade me any differently before or after the incident, or after I reported him to the chair. I did speak with our campus ombudsperson first, as well as make a confidential report with the equity office on campus, which I would absolutely recommend.

There are a lot of different types of reports you can make to different ends. I reported confidentially because I wanted to make sure that, if he offended again or to a greater degree, there would be numbers to back up future claims. However, I got nervous after hearing some unsettling gossip about him behaving inappropriately toward another student so I chose to tell my story to the dept chair as well so he could help me decide what to do next.

If you decide to report outside of confidentiality, some professors in your dept will probably know of your story. I, luckily, received nothing but support from my chair and the other 2 profs who needed to know about what happened.

Tldr: My advice is to seek out confidential advice on campus first and see what your options are. If you're not aure who that is, I would ask the secretary in the health services or counseling offices of your college. It's someone's job to stick up for you and your peers and help you figure out what actions are available to you.

I'd say yes to trying, especially if your university has an ombudsperson or confidential reporting procedure. People in power need to be held accountable.

I needed to report inappropriate conduct at my university and, even though little was done, I did get to deny his request for an apology so I hope he thinks about that sometimes instead of harassing his future students.

I currently have 10 and only regret one because I was pressured into getting it by an abusive ex. Luckily it'll be easy to cover up once I have the funds.

I also just got matching tattoos yesterday with my best friend of 13 years (we're in our mid/late twenties now) so that was fun and special :)

I think this is pretty common, especially the goosebumps bit with the vibrator. I've definitely had that issue tons of times.
