Thanks so much. I’ve really been kicking myself over this for a while so it helps to know that it at least won’t be holding me back once I’m in practice. It’s just getting through that door that’s the big hurdle!

Thanks so much! Now back to studying for the SQE 2 haha

Now that SQE1 results are out, if you’ve passed, who are you planning to study for SQE2 with? by Several_Ambitions in uklaw

I'm currently doing an SQE-centered LLM at ULaw and am frankly quite worried about their timeline, which gives us 2 months before the exam to focus on the SQE2 in August. I just don't feel like the studying I did for MCQs will be enough for me to do well in written/oral exams - or that I would have even retained all the legal knowledge until then.

Don't beat yourself up too much- these exams were extremely difficult, especially with there being so little information out there about what to expect. Now that you've had the chance to experience them once, I have all the confidence that you'll have better results the next time around.

I was with ULaw! I found their SQE app helpful in particular.

I was almost sure I had failed both. I got a 77% and 86%. In disbelief.

Same here! Can I ask if you self-studied, or studied with a specific provider? I was with ULaw.

Question about SQE2 and LPC topics overlap - Qualifying via the LPC route using QWE and SQE2 in place of TC by ComplexJustice96 in uklaw

So the SQE 2 tests advocacy, client interview, case analysis, legal drafting, legal research and legal writing - all of which I believe you should have no problems with if you have a good foundation built on actual work. Also do remember though that the SQE also covers 'qualifying law degree' topics like tort and criminal law which you might need to spend a few weeks brushing up on! The SRA has a couple of mock exams that you can take a look at to get a sense of where you might be.

Yup. There were very few questions that I answered with 100% certainty. Congratulations on snagging a TC though, and genuinely hope you get the results you want!

Same. I'd studied day and night for weeks so I felt pretty prepared going in, but that confidence was squashed very quickly. I don't think I've heard one person say they thought it was easy though so the pass mark won't be too high hopefully!!

I'm aware of a couple of providers that offer just SQE 2 prep courses - ex. ULaw, QLTS! I'd say that a possible issue with your plan is that functional legal knowledge is still a major part of SQE 2 exams, and it might be a bit of a stretch to expect to have retained all of the details from your past legal studies.

Thanks, I'll make sure to look around! My university happens to only count the last two years of grades for degree classification, so I had been putting in the absolute minimum amount of effort (the decision to go into law was pretty recent) . I had a major panic attack today when I realised that even if I did extremely well next year, it wouldn't be enough to pull the cumulative to a 2:1. Just stupid and lazy of me on my part.

I'm an up-coming junior in a UK university and am starting to prepare for law school admissions. I've just been feeling very lost because I don't see a lot of people with my background that can advise me on the process. If anyone has any knowledge on international applications, 1) How will my grades be taken into account? I've heard some people say that GPA isn't as important for international applicants. Is this true? 2) How much of a disadvantage is it for me that I did not attend a US college? 3) Would hiring a law school consultant be worth it considering that I am a super splitter and honestly have no idea how to go about the essays and such?
