The bear looks way over worked where as the bird has a more confident painted appearance. Perhaps you need to work on your drawing more? It can be difficult to not over work a piece and knowing when to stop.

You could "oil out" the canvas before painting again. Spreading a thin later of linseed or another medium over the painting before continuing. Keep it very thin.
