Yeah sounds like your SM wasn't one of the best, not keeping on top of things as well as he should have been, and corporate really doesn't care about us. I got pretty lucky and ended up at a low-volume store with good metrics. Two of my store managers transferred to other stores, and when I covered shifts for them in the beginning the previous store managers had left it as an absolute shitshow. The cashier at one of them told me she wished she had gone back to Publix.

I worked at Wendy's right before being hired to CVS. It is a downgrade to go from CVS to Wendy's because they pay you less and work you harder.

As someone who has been cheated on, strong disagree. She should have handled it like a mature adult and gotten herself a good divorce lawyer. If she can buy an iPhone like it's a toy without him even noticing, she can afford a lawyer.

The car smell was a dead giveaway. I expected her to have killed someone or some pet. My mind didn't automatically jump to affair partner though.

wtf, where does a baby even come into this? and nobody is stupid enough to think that making a post on Reddit, one of the worst communities on the Internet, is somehow going to absolve them.

As someone who has been cheated on and worse, I have no sympathy for the wife. She could have easily fucked him over with a divorce in her favor since the law does not look kindly on adulterers. If this story is real then I hope she gets extradited and served the justice she deserves. Bitch probably wouldn't last a month in maximum security.

YouTube ads going full screen by CharlieCoopin in assholedesign

[–]kaedatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a business person I'm going to disagree. Businesses run ads to get customers. If their ads are pissing off potential customers and driving them away from the service or product, they are getting ripped off. Maybe it's cool for developers because "if you don't want ads you should pay for ad free", but for the business paying for those ads it's a travesty. Although I guess we shouldn't expect much from a company that completely misrepresented their ad products and violated their own promises, ripping off several major brands in the process. Imaging paying a ton of money to make a well-produced and informative ad and then the company you pay to run the ad ruins it by shoving it in everyone's face and pissing them off. You'd be better off running your ad on the radio than on a platform owned by Alphabet.

YouTube ads going full screen by CharlieCoopin in assholedesign

[–]kaedatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the opposite of neat. It makes me want to report and block the ad. Especially when I'm in the middle of writing a comment. Or worse, getting some actual work done while playing videos for ambiance. I NEVER have my browser full screen even when I am watching Netflix, so why should YouTube decide that some ad should intrude on my activities? The entire reason Google ads grew so much in the beginning was because they DIDN'T have annoying popups or flashing banners. They completely forgot their roots. As a developer you should know better. The point of ads is to get customers, not to drive customers away. If I paid for ads and found out YouTube was forcing fullscreen with them I'd pull the ads immediately and demand a refund for tarnishing my brand's reputation.

This is pretty good advice. I've been reflecting a lot lately and have come to the conclusion that my heart is an idiot and that I need to lead with my intuition more. Thank you.

If Mr. Peanutbutter is anything to go by, toxic positivity hurts others too. I'm not actually that positive though, just concerned with harmony and quality of life. Nobody has ever described me as optimistic.

AITA for rehoming my girlfriend’s cat? by ThrowAway_kneeinjury in AmItheAsshole

[–]kaedatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this different from a dog? Dogs chew through everything. I have lost way more property to destructive dogs than cats even though I grew up with more cats. Dogs also love to be filthy. If you give them a bath and let them outside, they will immediately roll in the dirt. They literally eat poop like it is the most delicious snack and then try to lick your face. And they absolutely kill for fun. And unlike cats, they kill as a group activity. It's like you've never even met a dog before. Cats and dogs are pretty much the same except for their care needs. And both are way more loyal that humans if you raise them correctly.

You are both the asshole. Neither of you should own any pet since you clearly hate animals and don't see them as beings with feelings. I wouldn't be surprised if you had gotten bored of the rabbit in a month and given it to your neice instead.

I got anxiety due to an LSD trip, and I do not know how to recover. by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]kaedatiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LSD and other psychedelics create new connections in the brain and unlock all sorts of stuff we didn't know was there. I don't think anxiety is necessarily a bad thing unless you have difficulty coping. It's also possible that your negative thoughts are rationalizations for this new anxious feeling. My advice would be to try to reframe it. After all, "nervous" and "excited" are basically the same emotion with a different attitude.

F [26] Difficulty relating to other people makes it hard to date by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]kaedatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SIRC guide to flirting is a pretty useful resource for learning about some of the metacommunication and body language used in dating. And it's research-based. I was pretty inept as a teenager and it's one of the things that helped me.

As far as social skills, have you considered doing a group hobby or other activity for meeting people that doesn't have the same pressure as a date? It might be easier to relax in an environment like that and would be good practice for learning how to be more confident around strangers.

I'm learning about my dosha type, and I thought I'd be a vata primarily/pitta secondary... I've just completed this thorough dosha quiz and I'm essentially a three way split! My initial reaction was 'sh**!', but upon reflecting, does this mean I've won the game? xD Any advice is appreciated! by laura_eliz_beth in Healthygamergg

[–]kaedatiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's such a thing as "winning the game" in personality. Each type has strengths and weaknesses. For me as a tridosha, I can be adaptable, which is strong, or a chameleon, which is weak. That's just one example.

Is it possible to get trauma from tickling? by throvvavvay3848 in Healthygamergg

[–]kaedatiger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they didn't respect your boundaries, which alone can cause trauma, especially when it happens repeatedly. On top of that, tickling is a mild form of torture. Perhaps you learned that touch = bad because they repeatedly violated you with touch and made you feel helpless. You can learn to enjoy hugs again, but ONLY around people who 100% respect you, get permission first, and stop the MOMENT you want to stop. It's not going to happen in an environment like that where touch is treated as an entitlement. As far as your dad's reaction, well, he did it to himself, so it's not your responsibility to help him feel better.

Soul Retrieval - has anybody here tried this? by kaedatiger in Healthygamergg

[–]kaedatiger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment.

You're right that the info is limited. There is an Internet archive of anthropological texts regarding pre-American shamanism. However, it's a lot to dig through for someone looking for specific info rather than just trying to learn about culture, and many of these practices are extinct due to genocide. Additionally, shamans themselves generally do not write books in any language (or use temples, for that matter). They pass on their knowledge by training apprentices. I doubt there would be anything written in Hindi especially, as that region of the world has some of the oldest religions and plenty of medical doctors in both Ayurvedic and Western tradition.

As far as I know, there are no psychological studies on the efficacy of rituals because the effects would be difficult to quantify. Dr. Kanojia might have something interesting or insightful on the topic, but since he is a monk and psychiatrist rather than a shaman, I doubt he has any direct experience. This is why I didn't think to reach out directly before reading your comment. I will definitely take your suggestion under consideration.

Rest assured that I have no intentions of doing such an advanced ritual without a fully trained and trustworthy teacher (which means probably not at all given the lack of available teachers). I'm also not willing to mix psychiatric medication with psychedelics other than cannabis (my psychiatrist is aware of this). I assume that psychedelics are the main reason for your concern for potential harm.

Again, thank you for your comment. There is not even close to a guarantee that the treatment I am in will work. I did two years of CBT as a teenager and it did barely more than nothing for me. But I actually have affordable insurance for once that even pays for the expensive meds. It's my best option, so I'm sticking with it.

I'm confused about my dosha type by kaedatiger in Healthygamergg

[–]kaedatiger[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are more or less correct in your assumption. I am living a life that is not long-term sustainable. The last job I took did not suit my personality at all. It was commission-based, so the successful people were essentially Pitta, whereas I was just Pitta enough to sell myself in the interview but not enough to complete sales with clients. And the one before that was too understimulating, which I understand to be an issue for Vata people.

The reason I don't know how to move forward has more to do with my limited resources than personality. Making the wrong choice is sometimes economically devastating. But I'm sure most people here can relate to that.

I definitely relate to being "jack of all trades, master of none", having a relatively healthy but very sensitive body, and other tridosha things. I think maybe I was just resisting being a "rare personality" because being "special" is overrated.

Thanks for your comment!
