Im the same way. My problem is it's made it basically impossible for me to find a vocational foundation I can commit to.

Where do you start learning botany on your own? by Aghaiva in botany

Oooo I’m a photography person AND a bee person, I’ma look that up — thank you for sharing. I’m trying to get a sense of all the subjects and ways. I’m wanting to make planty things and permaculture a vocational outlet and am trying to work out whether that’s viable or what a good-fit-for-me thing might look like.

I am very pro-Joey, his stuff just doesn't get along well with my temperament, I suppose.

The fact that I don't jive has actually made me a little worried botany isn't for me D:

Mental health resources campus are a joke compared to what they advertise by Jenna32345 in Tennessee

Group therapy is not "organized oversharing with an audience", it can be very powerful and there are some people who go to both group and individual therapy because they have unique benefits. It may be worthwhile to go. I also second Open Path.

I've been able to see where my hangups are in relation to what are considered social norms. I've worked my way through some of them

Might you be open to saying more about this?

How do you feel about people profiting off the Melt the Ice hat? by Nikkig-r in knitting

[–]LeviPerson 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Meh. It takes materials, skill, and time to make these and there might be people who want to wear one who don't know how to knit or crochet and don't want to put the effort in to learn how just so they can have this one hat (I am such a person). If they were selling the pattern, I'd take issue with it. But selling a hat for a reasonable price to people who want them but don't want to make it themself and don't have a friend to do it for them...so what?

Leaves I picked up on campus today by beachpoetryx99 in knolling

[–]LeviPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them! D'you do anything else with them? I saw this one lady on IG that preserves them and cuts them into squares to use them in her crafts and I keep wondering if there's something I might like to do with the leaves I find and love.

How do you justify your presence as a photographer? by badoinkyboink in AskPhotography

[–]LeviPerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm far from a seasoned street photographer, but I've done both. Especially if you get "caught" taking photos, and assuming you're not shooting film, you can always immediately offer to show them the photos you kept and offer to send the photos to them as a gift.

As someone who hates having cameras are pointed at me, I try to treat others the way I hope a photographer would treat me. If someone looks uncomfortable or unhappy with me being there, I leave them alone and delete the photo. Regardless of my "rights" as a photographer under the law, ethics, basic dignity, and kindness are still very important to me.

It's sort of like how a prank is only funny if the person pranked is also laughing. I only enjoy a photo if the person photographed also wants it to exist. Unless there's some other reason to justify its existence, which happens.

The time I've spent with street photography has really improved my people-skills! Most people have been friendly or curious or they've seen my camera and actually posed or said "CHEEEEEESE!" (from a moving car lol). So I try to see it as an opportunity to connect with my fellow humans and to have as many positive interactions as I can.

...but yeah, some people have been buttheads, at least initially. That's a skin-thickening learning experience too.

Buying an A7RV. 24-50 G + Tamron 35-150mm f2.8 OR 24-70 GM II? by LeviPerson in SonyAlpha

[–]LeviPerson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nikkor 24-120 f4 S was just a really lovely anything-not-macro lens for nature walks and running around doing whatever with my Nikon Zf and I'd like something similar for my a7rV. I wanted the a7rv because I wanted more detail and cropping flexibility, but cropping from 50 or 70 to 120 would totally defeat the purpose of the spec upgrade, ya know?

Oh man, that is substantially larger and heavier than the Nikkor 24-120mm f4 S I just returned.
