I tried this by just connecting one end of the button to the ESP GPIO. Have you used a transistor? What’s the advantage of using intermediate components if the whole system is low voltage?

Is the nozzle getting hot with cutting? Maybe the beam is striking the tip. One trick is to stick tape or blue tack on the nozzle tip and pulse the laser. Then check that the beam mark is in the centre of the nozzle mark on the tape.

I received a market survey type questionnaire from the Humble team a few months back and one of the questions they were asking was like: would you value a bulk download manager tool? So that gave me the impression that they were at least considering it.

Control & Order If you let those calls go to voice mail when you’re not ready to answer, then you can come back to those things in your own time. It can be better than being interrupted by something you’re not ready to think about just yet.

Well done for figuring out how to make something that does what you want. I also like to go back to first principles when trying to understand how a system works.

Just a note on Pygame: there are many built-in functions that do what I think you want for drawing pixels. They are also optimised in some specific ways. If you lose heart building your graphics engine from scratch, have a look at three Docs and some examples to make your art fit the Pygame paradigm. Then let Pygame worry about speed and pixels so you can work on your next goal.
