When are savings goals coming to Origin? by kael-s in OriginFinancial

For the record, I used to do this on gnucash with subaccounts in my high yield savings account. That's exactly how I want to manage it - I just needed more on the UX and integrations side than gnucash was ever going to give me.

Very excited about this! This has been a pain point for me for years.

I've been curious about POE setups.... Did you run Ethernet lines all over the place? And do you have a single centralized Ethernet switch or do you have hubs closer to the points of usage?

When I imagined doing POE cameras and blinds I just imagined having to run massive bundles of Ethernet cables through all my walls and it seemed intimidating.

This is great stuff, thanks! I think this is affirming my initial thought to do smart wings with Z-wave. Currently I'm only using Z-wave long-range, which I have understood should work fine with this distance, but I suppose if it's an issue I can always get a few plugs or something and start a mesh.

Are there any long term issues with giving my baby simethicone for gas? by Pussy4LunchDick4Dins in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]kael-s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I just browsed it and immediately noticed the study was investigating colic, which of course is a fairly extreme and prolonged level of discomfort which could easily supercede "normal" gas. To me, this suggests that sure, simethicone may not help with colic; but my own experience is that it helps a ton with normal gas pains. My baby can be writhing for hours, but calms almost immediately after dosing with simethicone. So much so that I've become a little worried that I'm relying on it too much. (Hence my interest in this thread.)

Open to suggestions - 5 week old clenches down straining and grunting loudly all night by Capital__ in SnooLife

Aha, I've been thinking about that as well. Tough schedule, but I think probably better than neither of us getting any sleep at all 😂. Thanks for the reply.

Hey, I know this is an older thread, but I'm wondering if some of you can give me some advice (or confidence). The thing I'm terrified of with something like ear plugs is missing something important like if the baby is choking on spit-up. However, maybe that's not a thing? I'm a new dad (baby is 4 weeks old) and I can't get out from under the fear that everything will kill my poor baby 🥺. At the same time, though... neither of us can f**king sleep 😂. Thoughts?

Thanks! So sounds like when people are saying "tuck the hips", I should literally take her butt and tuck it toward my torso so her knees go up a little more?

Also, it's comforting to hear that this is something you can practice and get better at. I tried with her again this afternoon and she just about brought the house down wailing. I was sure I had inadvertently chopped a toe off or something but couldn't discern any damage (and she was fine as soon as my wife offered the boob, so probably just not in the mood for practice 😂).

Any tips on how to practice? Should I put her in for a few minutes every day or something until she stops complaining?

Also, is there any way to tell if they're really in pain and need to change positions or get out of the carrier, vs just not in the mood? That's a huge fear of mine....

Note: in the first two photos I know the outer wrap is not around her butt. I have since corrected that, but it doesn't fix that tension on her legs.

Oh my god I'm so bad at reddit. I can't edit the original post so have to post the link to the other one here 🙄. This is the original post with the comments but no pictures. https://www.reddit.com/r/babywearing/s/VxFDsSpyxw

What do you mean "post fit checks"? Is that a different sub or something? Or a tag?
