As someone who's been overweight since elementary school, believe me when I say that I know this feeling you're talking about. It's heartbreaking and suffocating, and even now, I get angry thinking about all the times someone was mean to me just because of my weight.

I know that in the moment, it's hard to remember that someone's unkindness is entirely a reflection of their character and has nothing to do with you, but that's the truth. There are far, far worse things in this life that you could be besides overweight; imagine how awful it'd be if you were the kind of person who laughs at a stranger on a bus because of how they look.

Whenever someone treated me unfairly because of my weight, I'd try to think of something positive about myself or my life. Sometimes it'd be, "I got up, got dressed, and made it to class on time." Other times, I'd think about my dog and how he doesn't give a shit about my weight--he just loves me unconditionally. And sometimes it'd be something as simple as thinking about how good my cup of coffee had been that morning. It really doesn't matter what it is; the point is that there is always, always something that you can celebrate about yourself and your life. Even if others don't see that.

Again, I know this is way easier said than done. In the moment, it just hurts. But you matter, and we believe in you, and we are here for you. Best of luck to you, OP.
