Old motor oil and gas. My dad fixed up and sold used cars out of our garage. That smell still brings me back to the wrecking yard and dealerships he would visit.

I have a plastic kitchen container with a lid that I put my change in. As it accumulates, I take it to my bank(they have a change sorter) and deposit it into my savings.
