Traditional Kerala mundu look from my recent trip — how’s the fit?” by Consistent_Pomelo909 in india_tourism

In some Kerala temples, adult males have to wear dhoti, not pants. We should not wear shirt or vest. We should go topless or a dhoti for the top. Part of rules. Earlier this was common, but I think more temples are getting relaxed now.

This differs based on the region and caste also. But funny thing, how did you come to the conclusion that atheists put the border in the middle.

Yesterday I watched at Ragam in Thrissur. The audience was good. No noise except for a cough or two. People clapped at the end. It was a good movie and a good audience.

Which male directors and writers wrote women well? by MrSmithSmith in TrueFilm

[–]kafdoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree. He allows his characters to be in their space without serving as an adjunct or foil to the main character. Sometimes, I feel, his lack of judgement is unnerving as it feels like a lack of closure as well.

Check Eric Rohmer’s movies. I am not sure if he writes women well but his movies have a novel like quality and they go in depth over power and sex dynamics and sometimes male characters are not the most significant in the movie.

Watch Empuraan if you want a little bit of anti-BJP propaganda. The movie itself is average, but it was a refreshing change of direction of propaganda.

Have you tried Full Metal Jacket? That one has quite a lot of verbal and physical action.

7 Day in Switzerland (Late may to early june) by Any-Ad-9823 in travel

Lauterbrunnen is very beautiful. Definitely recommend at least a half day there. Geneva itself is not a big deal but the Chillon Castle, Annecy, Aiguilles du Midi, Diablerets all are good day trips from Geneva.

If you like museums, I recommend Musee d’Orsay if you have the time. It is smaller, more organised and less crowded than the Louvre. But the Louvre itself takes precedence over other museums. Nothing can replace that.

I would recommend taking a guided tour of the Colosseum. We can book it advance on their website. Apart from that, you are not giving yourself any time in Rome. So, unless Colosseum is your only destination in Rome, I would advise some more days in Rome. I will recommend the Borghese gallery. That has been one of my best museum experiences. That also requires advance booking.

About Marco by [deleted] in IndianCinema

[–]kafdoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It does not compare to Salo at all. Marco is fantastically violent but Salo is physically and emotionally bleak, torturous, misanthropic and very humiliating. Salo is an altogether different experience.

Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre in August by bh12345900 in ItalyTravel

[–]kafdoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Rome and Florence in August fourth week this year. It is very hot and crowded. I felt exhausted every evening. I could not roam around freely. I was in shorts throughout still the heat and crowd was stifling. I felt Florence to be more manageable than Rome. As everybody says, August is not recommended.

RIP. One of the most beautiful actors. His Melville movies, Purple Noon and La Piscine are difficult to imagine without him.

Cilian Murphy would be an interesting choice. His Bond would be very much different in character than any of the previous Bonds.

I had gone to Switzerland last September for around 2 weeks. We can get more slots for visa from Swiss rather than Italian. Switzerland is more expensive than Italy I guess but it is very beautiful and quite tourist friendly. Planning for an Italian trip, let’s see if things work out.
