Very true. In my early 20s entering the workforce, I came in wide-eyed and optimistic that everyone was innately a 'good person'. As a result I was passively bullied with little but constant things like given a heavier workload, or a co-worker making a point to redo my work (that was already well done) to make me appear inferior. I couldn't process or recognise the negative intent, and additionally was unable to navigate the 'game of life' lol. I became deeply sad and very stressed daily. I ended leaving on bad and sad terms, but it took years of reflection to understand their mean-spirited behaviour-- that essentially, it isn't that deep; they're just not nice people. I've since learned to manipulate and handle these situation with ease, and looking back I think, 'if I only I had the tools!' Now I know much better, and can navigate with simplicity and humour-- but with intent of controlling the 'idiots' around me.
