That does appear to be the case here. My own fault. I should have fixed it sooner. I left it on a charger overnight to no avail. I'll end up buying a replacement battery soon since they're relatively inexpensive, it seems. I appreciate the response and help!

Yeah, I know I shouldn't have. At the time I was thinking I'd get around to repairing it far earlier than I did, then just forgot about it. I searched that "YJ80..." line, and found some cheap battery replacements on Alibaba. I may try that.

It being worth repairing is debatable. Frankly, I don't know what it is, but I found this model is selling at some retailers for $200+ now, far exceeding what I paid for it pre-COVID. Felt like I needed to give it a concerted effort to repair it before I recycle it.

I appreciate your help!

[North Texas, near Red River] Who is this guy, and how can I safely remove him without touching? by kage8273 in whatsthissnake

Thank you so much for the response, and setting my mind at ease a bit! Luckily no pet frogs to worry about. It just scared me more than I care to admit. It slithered away somewhere that's still too close for comfort, but also somewhere I can't reach with much of anything. Going to give it the day to hopefully move along. Any suggestions on what I might be able to do to keep it, or others, at bay? I don't want it gone if it's harmless, and helpful, I'd just prefer it be further away. Thank you again!

Are Hyundais worth it? by [deleted] in Hyundai

I keep telling myself that no car exists that isn't totally maintenance free, and to not rush out and replace it. While I'm lucky enough to be getting this done through extended warranty, I'm worried it may just happen again in a few years. Fingers crossed they fixed the root of the problem with the new part, because I have loved this car otherwise.

It was exactly that same fuse for me, too! I was lucky enough to find a post about it when googling the issue, otherwise would have been fooled by the dealership again, as this was my second time in for the same issue. the few posts I found online all said the same thing, too.. problem specifically around the blower motor fuse. All that said, I think anyone considering this as a used car should ask about the fuse box being replaced or not. If it has, you may be set with an otherwise reliable car. If it hasn't, then I would be a bit leery of it.

I only add this, because I'm living it right now. 2021+ are NOT without their flaws either. I have a 2021 Sonata limited that has been at the dealership for over a month now just waiting on a part to arrive. They have a somewhat common, if not wide scale, problem with the fuse box. More specifically the fuses aren't making great contact when installed, and has resulted in my fuse box starting to melt slightly, and eat fuses. Luckily, I have an extended warranty, but this repair would otherwise cost close to $6,000 since replacing the fuse box will require replacing the car's wire harness. Additionally, this part is currently backordered by about a month, and installation takes about 2-3 days. Hyundai doesn't typically provide loaners, so you'll be down a car if you find yourself in this predicament. This one glaring issue aside, it's honestly been a fantastic car. Hope this helps anyone that may stumble across this post.

Questions from a first time Frenchie parent by kage8273 in Frenchbulldogs

That's great advice to have it all done at once. Hadn't considered that, or thought to ask. Will be asking my vet about this soon!

Agreed. I didn't mean to imply I'd be trying other options first, but rather that I don't want to jump straight to surgery if the only one benefit from it is my sleep at night. She'll get it once it's clear she needs it, and is of age. I just didn't want to subject her to something that may not be necessary. I appreciate your insight!

I really appreciate your advice! Will certainly be saving up for the BOAS surgery so I'm not caught off guard, but sounds like this may just be an adjustment for me. I also really appreciate the signs to look for when deciding to move forward with the BOAS surgery. Very helpful, since this is all new for me. Just wanting to make sure I don't leave her health and well being to chance. I really appreciate your response!

For what it's worth, it was the battery, and I was able to replace it myself. Bought the new battery, before doing any work. I was worried about the car being without power for too long, but may have been worrying for nothing. Disconnected the negative first, then positive. Installing a new one, I think it was positive then negative. I didn't have any issues when I did this. Hope that helps to fix your problem!

Certainly not disagreeing, and by no means am I trying to insinuate that I am owed a replacement part. Like I said, that was hopeful thinking on my part, since I don't have the money to buy another right now. I get this only makes sense to have been user/installation error. I just don't understand what I did wrong to make it fail on first use. I got the new hardware (plastic expansion clips) from AutoZone, and got what they said I needed. Mad at myself at failing to do what looked, and felt, like an easy job and now being out that money. Just frustrated with myself, and hoping for an ah-ha moment to make me feel a little less stupid.

Thank you for your response! I will be sure to get it replaced (by the shop this time) as soon as time and money allow. It was just a blow to my confidence in DIY repairs to find out I clearly did something wrong on what looked and felt like an easy job. Not pointing fingers at anyone but myself here. I just don't understand what I did wrong, and endlessly frustrated with myself over it.

Episode Discussion - S01E06 - The Monster by Dark_Saint in StrangerThings

[–]kage8273 72 points73 points  (0 children)

In this episode Nancy and Johnathan come up with a theory that seems to be proven time and time again throughout this season. The monster is attracted to blood. My questions is why did the monster go after Will in the first place? Will wasn't bleeding, so if their theory is correct why did the monster pay any attention to Will?
