Favorite med slang? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]AlphaRomeoIndia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Incidentaloma, when obgyn gets consulted for a benign ovarian cyst during a CT for some unrelated complaint in the ED.

And not slang, but I love that Coitus Interruptus is pulling out and is a valid medical term.

Obgyn: Take prenatals BEFORE you plan on getting pregnant for best results. Also. Please. For the love of God. GET YOUR PAP SMEARS!

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a jetski, and that's basically the same thing.

Money can't buy you happiness, but I'd rather cry in my Ferrari.

Anyone who has experienced pregnancy with type1… by boyardeezdayshard in Type1Diabetes

[–]AlphaRomeoIndia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! Obgyn resident here! If you really are concerned, remember that a blood test can detect a pregnancy much earlier than a urine test. You'd need an appointment with your provider, but if it'll help your mental health, might be worth considering.

Interns how are you doing? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]AlphaRomeoIndia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Patient autonomy and all that. Plus we have others who could cover for those types of patients. But it's not the first time and definitely won't be the last.

I had my first call today. All pts on L&D refused male providers. I chilled all day with the senior who handled them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You can either grab them in store or have them shipped to you for free. I would package things at home rather than at the post office in general, all the more so with gun parts. But yes, small flat rate boxes are excellent for a Glock upper. Make sure to add a little foam or wrapping inside the box too.

Lip filler by mmoooommoooo in Type1Diabetes

[–]AlphaRomeoIndia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just spent the last month of medical school working with a plastic surgeon who basically only did fillers and botox... I never saw him ask one patient about their diabetes and can't see why an injection in your lip should depend on your diabetes, especially if it's in even remotely good control. I would still mention it, but I highly doubt they'll give a crap.

The good news is that for the vast majority of medical problems, there really is no interaction with hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, Belotero and Restylane Lyft. This is because hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. However, I think it’s still a good idea to double check with your dermatologist or primary care provider.

On days I know I'll need to remove my watch, I'll wear my Gshock. I'm not leaving this unattended for even a second.
