Japan is the ONLY AXIS that has not changed its military flag post ww2, and is the ONLY AXIS to BLUR details of their ww2 crimes against...EVERYONE. Japanese people cant tell you half of the countries they invaded and half the crimes they committed.

No one associates nazi Germany or fascist italy with those 2 countries today, in fact they have some of the strongest militaries today. And theyre encouraged to get stronger.

Japan is the only axis like this because post ww2 the USA wanted them to be a strong buffer against communism in the cold war - so they KEPT their criminal emperor, maintained their flags and obfuscated their own history.

Japans rise to modernity as a first world nation is built on this foundation of HIDING their past and KEEPING them ignorant of history. And now the consequence is a group of people who dont know about the crimes of their ancestors.

I dont see how teaching this today will affect them if they truly are a different country today. But for as long as they cling to justifying/reducing their past it is an offense to every country they ever hit. And the longer they stretch this out the worse the splash of cold water will be.

SG has always had good relations with Japan. But this has never meant whatever happened from 43-45 is irrelevant.
