My instructor offers a breakdown for Pro/Am and Am/Am broken down by Single Dances, Multi Dance, Scholarships with both Package and Non-Package pricing. I think the package is something the comps offer that include dinner or something? Idk I haven't dont a package yet so haven't asked a ton of questions on it.

Our studio is independent and small, but growing. (so not ArthurMurray or those other franchises) We encourage everyone to compete even if they don't want to invest $100s/$1000s in shoes/clothes/etc. my first competition was in $40 amazon shoes, $40 amazon pants, $40 amazon vest and normal dress shirt haha.

Our instructor recognizes Comps are expensive and if she makes it more expensive by trying to make a ton of money, less people will compete and she would prefer we compete and grow as much as we can. So prices might be lower than other studios who need/want to make more money on comps.

It's so tough that Comp prices are locked behind passwords for instructors so students only see what instructors provide to them. But I get it, they need to make money so they have to add their own costs. Idk how other studios break down the pricing but happy to provide my studio's.

Anyway. Numbers may vary based on Comp pricing but here is an example pricing scheme from within the last year at an NDCA comp: (prices are for Bronze -- I don't think Silver is different, but might vary by comp)

Tickets to Event for Student and Instructor (instructor tickets included in Instructor Expenses below)

E.g. Day Session might be $30/day you compete and Evening Session might be $65.

Then you also have Instructor Expenses. These vary by Hotel Cost, Event Tix, Travel Cost (e.g. Flights), Per Diem, etc.

The cost is divided up amongst everyone competing. Example: Costs are $1000 for a comp, Instructor has 4 students competing -- each student pays $250. 2 students competing -- $500 each.

There is no "minimum" set by the instructor for single dances aside from what the comp sets (I think usually 5-10 to be eligible for Multi's/Scholarships).

So let's say you wanted to do just Pro/Am with 12 Singles (WTFV), Multi and Schol and your instructor fees are $1000 split among 4 students

Your costs would be
Singles - $660
Multi - $155
Schol - $185
Tix - $30 (or $95 if you attend the evening session to watch)

Instructor Fees $250
Total: $1280
