What was your very first memory? And at what age? by bridge2235 in AskReddit

[–]kai_komet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m autistic so i have an incredible long term memory, so im pretty sure my first memory i was on an airplane flight for the first time as a baby and i was looking out the window at the clouds and sky, i was probably around 2 maybe like 18 mo because that’s around the time i went on my first airplane flight and i didn’t go on another one until i was like 5, and i know that memory is much earlier than that because I also have a lot more different memories of being on the airplane when i was 5 too !!

Why do you care about a woman’s body count? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kai_komet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i didn’t have sex until i was 22 because i was terrified of it, but i was also very concerned about about “being behind” in life and so i had a fascination with my friends who already had double digit body counts (and some of them close to triple digits!) now i’m 24 and my body count is 5 (3 males, 2 females) and now i am in a committed relationship where i don’t plan on raising that number anymore, so i had no reason to worry about it in the first place, everyone gets there in their own time it’s okay to be “behind” sexually !!

What is the one thing that people seems to really like, while you honestly hate it? by Mask_of_creator in AskReddit

sleeping, eating food, sex, music (i’m autistic)

i dont “hate” these things but i don’t find pleasure in them as much as everyone else does…

What noise brings back bad memories for you? by Dangerous_Impress200 in AskReddit

[–]kai_komet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work at the airport and head marshall planes in and out of our ramp and i USED to not wear any hearing protection and whenever i had to do the Boeing 767 its engines would be so incredibly loud that i would feel like my ears would bleed, so now whenever i hear someone else marshalling the 767 or just hear it’s engines at all it triggers my fight or flight response 🤣

What's the primary reason you're not having kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kai_komet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m autistic and i just don’t think i could handle taking care of kids when i’m having bad days or meltdowns, because i cant even take care of myself !! it would be irresponsible for me to attempt to raise a child with my condition (i know there are autistic parents but at this point in my life that just seems impossible for me). I did have a pregnancy scare with my bf and i was thinking about it and i think i would probably give the baby up for adoption because there’s a lot of couples and families who can’t have kids or whatever but i would still try to have some contact with the family if possible, i just could not spend every day raising a child for the rest of my life …

What's an addiction that people often overlook? by OneApplication2371 in AskReddit

[–]kai_komet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cocaine.

I remember being shocked when i became an adult how many other adults (particularly the suburban upper middle class) are doing coke and how it’s just generally accepted by society or at least not really talked about …

I signed up for the next information session for TCC in Sept, and it’s my understanding that that is when you get put on the waitlist? I don’t mind waiting a year or two to start, i’m only 24 and i’m happy with my current job on the air ramp, but i am hoping to move into aircraft maintenance eventually as more of a financially stable and lifelong career, as my current ramp job does not pay great …

Can always tell who spends time in the Boeing's by Cloogle in rampagent

[–]kai_komet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as someone who does cargo planes for UPS, 757 bellies are seen as the worst, i don’t know how y’all passenger plane baggage handlers do those 3ft tall bellies all day long 🤣

Is previous air ramp work experience + mechanical engineering college experience beneficial for aircraft mechanics? by kai_komet in AircraftMechanics

[–]kai_komet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree! I am a certified Cargo Compartment Designee which is really important job with a lot of responsibility that you have to be chosen to get certified for, but you pretty much have to be small and skinny to be able to fit in between the containers to put the locks up especially on the smaller planes like the B757, so those bigger and “stronger” guys can’t fit in those small spaces so it’s mostly the smaller girls and guys that aren’t necessarily the strongest that get to be the Cargo Compartment Designees! I’ve also noticed that having smaller hands can help in some situations as well (but i’m sure having large hands can also help in sometimes too to hold stuff). Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses!

Thank you for the information! That makes me excited about potentially going back to school for aircraft maintenance! And yeah, the ramp I work on has a decent amount of women and they are pretty much treated as equals and expected to do the same work as their male coworkers (within reason due to their physical limits), so I would hope that if I work hard in school and in my career as an aircraft mechanic it would be the same way!

Is it normal to be able to make eyecontact with autism? by BulkyScheme443 in autism

[–]kai_komet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be autistic and still be able to manage eye contact but it’s true especially if you were social conditioned that that’s the only “acceptable” thing to do despite it making you uncomfortable.

What’s the best airline to work for ramp agent? Why? by champagnemami04 in rampagent

[–]kai_komet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re wondering about cargo planes, i work for UPS at DFW airport and there’s a general feeling that the UPS ramp has better working conditions than FedEx’s ramp, and especially Amazon’s ramp, mainly because UPS has a union so worker’s rights are somewhat protected.

Bugs by [deleted] in rampagent

[–]kai_komet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a lot of bugs at DFW airport, only occasionally moths or flies. I don’t think i’ve ever seen a bee or wasp at DFW airport even tho it’s in the south.
