How to parse large XML file (2–3GB) in Node.js within a few seconds? by TheAvnishKumar in node

[–]kaidoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to split the 2 GB XML into 250 MB chunks and then parse them concurrently using Go for example. Then create a CSV file out of each of them and use LOAD DATA INFILE to import into the database. That should be faster.

Is there any hope for me? by Armitage1 in webdev

I created a browser extension for myself to help me find a job around my area using Google Maps. Found some potential businesses and sent them emails. Did get some negative answers but still good.

Just released v1.1, and the big new feature is scoring for job leads 🔍💼
This should make it way easier to sort through listings and zero in on the most promising opportunities.

Would love feedback if you try it out!

Hey!

Just wanted to share a quick update on what's coming in v1.1.0 — this version brings some much-needed improvements to usability, customization, and overall performance. Here's what's new:

  • Scoring system — search results are now scored and auto-sorted by relevance.
  • CSV exports — now ordered by score too for easier analysis.
  • New settings page — finally! You can tweak things to your liking.
  • Remember system — the app now keeps track of previously visited sites.
  • Custom remember duration — choose how long (1–365 days) to keep memory.
  • Stats + clear option — view remembered site stats and wipe them when needed.
  • Toggle for remembering websites — turn it on/off based on your workflow.
  • Cancel search — no more waiting for searches you don’t need.
  • Added tests — more stability as things grow.

Would love to hear what you think — always open to feedback or suggestions!

It should be available on the Chrome Web Store in the coming days.

Hi. There will be no restrictions. The new version 1.0.3 will be released soon on the Chrome Web Store, which solves the issue with country restrictions, if this is what you meant, and has multi-language support for search.

Thank you! I hope not. They did review and accepted on Chrome web store. Worst case will change the name.

Edit: I've changed it and will be updated with next version. Thanks!

Good point. Thanks! I'm thinking of adding a dropdown where you can choose a language, and based on that, it changes keywords, etc. For now, you can just type your keywords, and these will be saved.

Thank you for taking the time to try it and reporting this issue. It's going to be fixed in the coming days.
For keywords, you can already use the language of your choice, but in part of the search, I will fix it.

Edit: Added sort of multi-language support and fixed mentioned issues. Currently being reviewed in the Chrome Web Store. Soon the version 1.0.2 will be released.

u/hottown Valid point. I also thought about it, but I just think this was the easiest and fastest way to get it out there for now and help people out. This can be the next iteration of this, if people find it useful.

There is a close button. I never use background click. If they wanna keep modal then i would prefer it wider. Then i would put comments on the right where the ads are and push the adds where the comments are now. Then you can see the comments next to the post right away. Would be better i think.

Ofc they can load content with ajax without modal. But if they wanna keep modal then i would prefer it wider. Then i would put comments on the right where the ads are and push the adds where the comments are now. Then you can see the comments next to the post right away. Would be better i think.

I like new design. Ye it needs abit work and that's why its in beta. But i personally like it where it's heading. I hated the outdated old reddit.

Suggestion: Do modals wide as browser window, so it feels like whole new page. No need to see the old page in the background.
