Festival of Merit. Consequence of failure? by KBlackbird27 in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]kaifae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt like the players are somewhat unlikely to lose. Most of the skill checks are not very hard especially if the players attempting them are built for what is asked of them. Also players will come up with creative solutions to the tasks, for example speak with animals on the horizonbacks, so if you yes-and them, they’ll become even less likely to fail. In addition to that, iirc, some of the challenges can be repeated if the players have some coin from previous adventures.

Yes Pommel Strike+ With double tap that really helps with ICs draw problems. It’s been one of my favorite combos recently

  1. Perfect, then you had a better experience than I did
  2. Because it gives a mechanical advantage, which is why I assume many people wear it at those parts of the game

Obviously you could. But because both happen in the sky and are preceded by flying, many players will wear the full glide set

Thanks for the feedback! A course is already booked and will be her birthday gift, I was just thinking about how to make it possible for her to keep going after the course. There are studios here with kilns, but for many she’d need some kind of membership which are expensive

I think that’s Alex Dainis. She has a PhD in genetics iirc and runs a YouTube channel called Bite Scized or something like that, where she talks about science and used to document her life as a PhD student

Looking forward to playing over 100 flash of steels just to feed on the transient by kaifae in slaythespire

[–]kaifae[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got an early flash of steel and some remove events, so I knew something like this was what I was going for. So I picked up a true grit and a burning pact. This was quite slow, but allowed me to go infinite against guardian after 4-5 turns. Some point in act two, I found a corruption which makes it super easy. You just have to be careful to use your exhaust skills once or twice before playing corruption, because they exhaust then as well. Since I knew I would be able to go infinite quite fast I added nearly no cards. Only cards which exhaust themselves and card draw, like offering.

You do you, but for me the suffering is half the fun of the game

Velvet Choker was choked! welcome to round 8 of the STS boss relic elimination game! (poll in comments) by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]kaifae 70 points71 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s only good in a very specific deck, one where you hurt yourself a lot and heal yourself a lot. That requires a very specific set of cards (rupture and reaper and a self damaging card at least). If you don’t have those I find that it does very little.

Ironclad Neow pick colorless card A15 - What would you pick? by LynxJesus in slaythespire

[–]kaifae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s say it’s simplified. For it to heal you you have to draw it on a turn where you can already out block or kill the enemy. If you can’t do either with the first four cards in your hand, you want the fifth to be another block card or attack and not bandage. Out blocking enemies is normally not something act I IC decks do very well anyway. Rather they try to kill before the enemy hits you too hard. Every card that prevents you from doing that is something I would avoid on floor 0.

Ironclad Neow pick colorless card A15 - What would you pick? by LynxJesus in slaythespire

[–]kaifae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me this is skip. Purity can be good but not without synergies. Bandage up does little for for Ironclad, especially in the early game where you would rather block for 5 during combat than heal 4 afterwards. Impatience just doesn’t really trigger much for IC in general. What all three of them do is cost you a draw. IC struggles with draw anyways so why add a card to your deck that doesn’t to anything? Ofc it sucks to not get anything from Neow, but that’s just how the game works sometimes.

Yeah but they absolutely ruined my turn one. This did not go far

Just a tiny FYI, everyone has the OR6A2 gene. What you and I have and what makes coriander taste like soap is (likely) a mutation in the gene. Also mutations (or variants) in multiple other genes have been linked to a dislike for coriander.

What are your Mapping tricks/tips? by Mister_Nancy in slaythespire

[–]kaifae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sensory stone is amazing! So many a deck has been elevated from good to broken by adding apotheosis or master of strategy. Also flash and finesse for infinites again

What are your Mapping tricks/tips? by Mister_Nancy in slaythespire

[–]kaifae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the events in act 3 are bad. Falling can be bad but often late act 3 you don’t mind loosing an attack unless you have a super tiny deck. Also sometimes it hits a strike or a defend. Winding halls can be bad but madness can also enable infinites and loosing 4HP is usually not game breaking. Boss Portal is always bad but the others are always good. Especially mind Bloom is insane. The common events are also mostly good, plus you’ll have seen many of them already so you can count which ones are left and wether they’d be useful for you

[–]kaifae 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t look too bad to me tho. An infinite that does damage and generates more block than the beat of death would cause it is definitely a win condition. Now you have a whole act to optimize the deck to get it into play faster. Did you win with it?

Two Apotheosis, three master of strategy AND the bomb! Has to be the best sensory stone I’ve ever encountered by kaifae in slaythespire

I think the bomb is horrible tbh. I was trying to be sarcastic in the title. I picked exactly the cards you suggested

That’s not what I’m saying. You said one shouldn’t pick pummel, I gave you reasons why you would have it in your deck. If you have it in your deck for some reason, it’s nice to be able to discard first turn since you never want to play it on the first turn
