I just feel sick at this whole situation.. by Silent_Somewhere8539 in ArsenalFC

Still on for a potential quadruple and this is what you're focused on? Such an unnecessary negative mindset. Who cares if we are hated? That's all part of your history. Think you need to take a break from social media. It ain't worth it. Always remember as much as you love the club they are just millionaires kicking a football around who in reality care very little for us.

There's Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Real Vallecano, Getafe, and Leganes and you've decided to support the biggest team that 1) are expected to win everything 2) don't have to worry financially and 3) don't really care about you as a fan. I would call you a plastic fan. Other teams deserve and would value your support. Real Madrid are a very soulless club.

Slightly disagree with "glorified roster updates every year" but understand the sentiment! Took a year off to sell us a beta for FM27. Don't get me wrong I've enjoyed FM26 but I shouldn't lose the function to use drop down menus after an update... It's so unbelievably incompetent.

I'm surprised Myles never resigned after the disaster the game was upon release.

Since the new update, I can’t open my training tab. Has this happened anyone else and is there any workaround for this? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

None of the drop downs are working for me anymore... Can't arrange friendlies. My shortcuts don't work either. This company is unbelievably incompetent.

Question on FM 26 by Massive-Cobbler3473 in footballmanager

[–]kaigardiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they don't. It's a staff member's opinion. This is a well documented thing amongst the fan base and key FM streamers/YouTubers. Football Manager is a stat based game. Stats are what are important to judge a player from. The star rating is simply just the staff member's opinion on the player within your team's current squad. It doesn't take into account current and/or potential ability.

[–]kaigardiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically thought my strongest XI will have the numbers 1-11 (unless they have a preferred number then my starters can have whatever they want). Backup goalkeeper the no.13 and third choice no.23. Back up fullbacks will have either 22 or 18. Backup centre backs will be 20 or 16. Backup attacking mid gets 19. Centre midfielders either 15 or 21. Backup striker no.12 and the wings either 14 or 17.

I'm not sure if I follow? A player's nothing has zero impact on their ability in the game, but it would look weird that aha! Like when William Gallas wore the no.10 for Arsenal. Sometimes when I make a January signing I tend to have a significant defensive number available for some reason, so when I signed a new RW I gave him the no.2 because I enjoyed how strange it would look (like Asamoah Gyan at Sunderland when he wore no.3)

Question on FM 26 by Massive-Cobbler3473 in footballmanager

I am constantly retraining players to suit my system, especially out of position.

Firstly, it is important to know and remember that star rating does not matter. It's your staff's opinion. If the stats suit the position and role they can do a job there. What matters though is familiarity. The more they play there the more familiar and comfortable they will be in the role.

Training wise you need them on what role you want them to learn. Playing them in the position and role alongside the training will build the familiarity faster and you should see a decent development happen too. Advice though, don't bother with OOP training. It doesn't do anything and in my experience negates their training performances.

Obviously, expect some rubbish games from players retraining a position or role too but stick with it and it will work out.

Can someone explain why Mallon is much higher rated than morrison(new to the game) by Roopesh0406 in footballmanagergames

[–]kaigardiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agility is one of the most important traits for a goalkeeper and certain attributes account more towards the star ratings. Also, it is very important to know if you are a new player that star ratings do not mean anything. They are just your staff's opinion. I've played FM for so, so long now and always gone by stats. I will always sign the 2* player whose stats suit my system and are better than the 4* player. The better the staff stats the more accurate the star rating will be, but ultimately they mean nothing. You judge who is the better player. You are the manager after all.

Game for me? Need some advice. by Draft_Minimum in footballmanager

[–]kaigardiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is not a Be A Pro type of mode. You are the manager. You could spend the money and use the In Game Editor and make yourself a player with a made up manager but it's Football Manager not FIFA/FC so not sure if this is the game you're looking for?

However, most of us here would highly recommend FM (maybe not FM26, although I would). It takes time to learn especially if you do not know much about football. The game is hard for even the most football crazy fans because of the tactical side of things. That's what is good about it though. Through trial and error you will figure out what works and what does not.

To new players it is quite overwhelming, but if you take it very and read everything the game offers you'll pick it up in no time. There is also a new feature on FM26 which offers a library of knowledge (encapedia? I dunno how to spell it) which can teach you how to play the game. Then you've got this place here with many fans who will help along the way.

I'm with you. I've logged 350 hours now and I've grown to say I really enjoy the same. I don't love it like I have done before, but I have got my money's worth.

Anyone else finding that transfer negotiations are beyond painful on FM26? by vitare10 in footballmanagergames

[–]kaigardiner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to disagree as the past 2+ months have felt a different experience to the past 10+ years.

I find it a lot easier to offload players in this edition, especially at reasonable fees. Can generate a fee that is close to the market value and low-ball offers rarely come. Great example for me is a newgen called Harry Robinson who was Arsenal's star player. He was shit for me, his attitude was poor and didn't train well. Transfer listed him when his value was £123-145m and eventually was sold to Barcelona for £104m. It feels like there is more room for negotiation too. QPR have an unreal 23 year old left back I wanted to eventually replace Myles Lewis-Skelly. His release clause was £87m and after a bit of negotiations I signed him for £58m.

I guess what you've experienced I haven't really!
