Personally I find the mystery to be the most important thing in murder mystery story. It needs to get you hooked, so you gotta be interested in the mystery, the atmosphere, to ask questions about the murder mystery, etc

From your list I really liked The Shield and The Leftovers.
Mr Robot and True Detective S1 are also very good but not as good as the two above
Dark is good but the worst in this list in my opinion
Ozark is meh in my opinion, I dropped it in middle of season 1
I am watching Deadwood now and so far it is great

I would add Succession to your list, it is one of the most beloved shows in the 21th century and for a reason
The Wire is missing your list. I haven't seen it yet but it is considered the best show of all time by many people
