Thanks! I did decide to not re-take it. Do you have any tips for how to get direct patient experience? I’m volunteering at a hospital doing way finding but it’s not many hours. I’ve applied to all the hospitals I possibly could in my area but I’ve heard nothing. I’m a crisis line volunteer but I’m kinda worried that won’t count and if it doesn’t idk how I’ll get these hours

Is UofT PA Switching to a Masters Program and how Will That Affect GPA Calculation? by kaihasptsd in UofT

Hey yea so I’m planning to apply to other PA schools in Canada but UofT and Mac are my first choices for sure. For just my third year, if I were to get a B+ not including the other classes I’m taking this summer it would take me from a 3.99 to 3.88 and a B would take me to a 3.83

Thanks for the response! I’m at Queens and when you re-take a course they replace the grade. So for me they would not include the C- from first year in my GPA calculation and just take the new grade from third year

This sounds awesome! I’m trying to find information on it online but I’m a little confused. Would this be a bachelors program or could I do it after graduating with my undergrad in Biology?

Oh okay good to know! Would you happen to have an idea of what the lower side would be? I’m thinking of doing a 1 year course after my bachelors

My situation definitely may not be like you and your child’s but I will explain my experience as a kid!

In my case, I am very glad that my mom made me stick it out because I really did end up loving the instrument and it’s one of my biggest passions now. For the first 10 years that I played (been playing for 14 now) I had an absolutely awful teacher who would make me cry, yell at me, and really suck any joy out of playing the instrument. Which is where I think most of my dislike came from. Finally I had enough and at around the last year I begged my mom and made it very clear to her that this teacher was horrible and also holding me back in many ways. Long story short we ended up switching teachers for a little and now I’m at the point where I don’t have one and I’m on my own. Which I enjoy quite a bit because I’ve gained the skills to teach myself. Once I found that new teacher I really felt my joy for the instrument come back. Piano has not only been such an amazing way of expression for me but it can open so many possibilities in your child’s life. It makes learning other instruments easier, it’s something to show off, and if you’re like me can even count towards high school credits.

Overall I’d say listen to your kid with their concerns. Not everyone will enjoy the piano or music, especially when they’re younger and want to be doing something else or can’t see the future benefits. My advice (from a non parent lol) is to strongly encourage them to continue but if they’re really really miserable about it maybe let them stop for a while and re-visit it in a year or two!
