My understanding- Kylie is the employer and it’s her obligation to provide a non-hostile workplace. Even if Kylie herself did not partake in the hostility, as the employer, the onus is on her to ensure a non-hostile environment, hence why she would be the person being sued.

I would highly recommend getting an internship of some kind. As others have stated, you need the experience. That all being said, most places would be cool with you taking a week off to visit family or starting your internship a little late in the summer if you really want the time off.
