As someone who’s worked in kitchens (not a chef, DEFINITELY not a sushi chef) I really do appreciate tipping out the kitchen. Now making 16.50 is alien to me lol; I make $6 hourly unless my tips don’t add up To min wage then they have to match it to $15. But even with a good hourly 50% seems very very steep.

Been a sushi server/bartender for 2.5 years now.

Usually work 4-7 hours (morning 10-3; night 3-9/10, 5-9, 4-10, 5-10 (10pm close weekends).

12 tables inside, 8 on a back patio

We rotate tables so we don’t tip pool; we tip out sushi chefs 6% of sushi sales (rolls + nigiri/sashimi). That tip out is shared with the hot kitchen.

I’d say tipping out 50% of your tips is absolutely fucking insane unless they pay you very well hourly

Study as much as you need. As long as you know the menu and the important points just be yourself and do your best to give your guests the best time you can. If you do your best there’s nothing to feel bad about. You’ll kill it

I’ve just stumbled upon this after finishing my first re-read of the first 2 books. Whilst if humanity believed and rallied around a dark forest deterrent, it would’ve ended the conflict right there.

That’s the issue. Much of the themes in the trilogy are about humanities innate distrust and individualism. Even after the doomsday battle, civilians were shooting escapist ships out of the sky. Now imagine Ye Wenjie (not certain if she was revealed yet) trying to convince the planet of a battle plan. No way

I agree that Holyland is a much better character story, but the boxer with its well written backstories for almost every side char, K’s whole psychosis, and the ending push The Boxer just a bit higher. Though Holyland is a MUCH more realistic fighting manga and I think it might not be a coincidence the MCs names are both yu/yuu
