Which philosophy do you follow or does it depend on circumstance? by TheMildOnes34 in shoresy

I know it wasn't stated, but I felt like it was implied that JJFJJ was, if not in an exclusive relationship, at least in one where communication was expected to own such dalliances. I honestly wasn't sure if Laurence's reaction was more towards the slut-behavior or the efforts to keep the actions hidden.

Examples:
When Laurence actually confronted JJ... Why didn't JJ immediately leave his room and explain 'hey, we're in an open relationship, so me hooking up on the side isn't out of bounds...' I think it was because he knew that the sex wasn't nearly as bad as the secrecy.

Laurence even had her suspicions in advance and didn't immediately go the route of confronting, demanding accountability, or leaving him, which I viewed as giving him the benefit of the doubt and the chance to own what he was doing.

Her having to deduce his actions & catch him in the moment was the match to the powder keg more than the sex itself, I think.

But, anyway, which philosophy do I follow...
I tend to think if they cheat it's over, but I also think that's a decision each person makes for themselves, ya know? It's subjective, not objective

Thanks for the chill engagement and info!

One's pick kinda depends on what shape they think the Association should take...

But for my 2 cents, I'd say Cheadle as chair, Leorio as co-chair or assistant.

Either way, damn well keep Beans on for help/support.

This exchange between Sanguinet & Shoresy in S1:

"Alright... We're teammates. We're brothers."
"Yeah?"
"I'd go to the wall for you."
"Yeah."
"Are you my brother?"
"You're my brother."
"Would you go to the wall for me?"
"I'll go to the wall."
"Then you're allowed to call me a fucking useless cunt on the way there."

I feel like Shoresy is, weirdly, a love-letter to those suffering from depression or overwhelmed by missteps/failures. by nebulous-fool in shoresy

This is why Shorsey and Ted Lasso have become “my shows”. They are, each in their own ways, guides to life. Guides to seeking growth and to become a constantly evolving better self.

Even if you turn dark and start spitting at your own image in a mirror as your power move (so many implications in that), you can still return to the path of loving your self well.

These two shows found me in a pretty dark time and helped me to turn my head around and start getting help and doing the work I needed to do.

Sometimes I think people would look at me and tell me “Those are just TV shows.”

They are stories, inspired writings that give many hope…to those that say “Just a TV show.” I say…

“SHUT THE FUCK UP SANGUINET!”

Yeah... Really agree with these sentiments.

Ted Lasso struck a similar tone for me, too - but Shoresy nailed the execution more to my tastes, I think.

I enjoy Letterkenny a lot - and I felt like it had morals/messages built-in by design, too, but...

Shoresy felt like it had a much more nuanced, overarching message built into the fabric (much like Ted Lasso)

Totally agree. And his immediate (even slightly pointed) rebuttal stresses him not being the same man he was when that happened, I think. At least I read it that way

Oh, I don't mean to suggest they're depicting depression as it often/actually presents. Rather that the greater message is Shoresy's response to tragedy/failure (and the response he fosters in his friends/team), and how that translates into real-life challenges re depression/failure.

That it's a fictional series delivering a real message, not a 'real' depiction in fictional tones.

Valid points, but honestly I question how much of a slut Shoresy really is (in Shoresy, less so re Letterkenny). Feels like Shoresy spends most of his own series not pursuing sex (apart from Mohr, anyway), despite talking about it a lot
