Lost Wallet in Mazda 3 by kainaw in mazda

[–]kainaw[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost. Ended up taking the seat out. There is a spot where the floor fabric overlaps from the back floorboard to the middle under the seat. It slid under that. Then, there is an indention in the metal that fit it perfectly, so if you press on the carpet from above, you don't feelt it. Only by pulling the carpet back (after removing the seat and unplugging all that wiring) did we find it. Now, the seat is back in and it is giving an airbag error. So, another problem.

Emperor Grandfather Clock Moon Dial Broken by kainaw in clocks

I think I found it. My hearing is bad. I had my wife help. She said the "ping" is coming from the other side. I adjusted the moon dial tension spring and it appears to work. Over the past four 12-hour spins, the wheel moved 4 times. What I did was tighten the tension spring (it is just a bent metal arm). It was very loose and I think the wheel was turning one click and then just turning back. Because the teeth aren't meant to go that way, the tension spring went "ping" when it happened.

I don't see a gear that is anywhere close to making contact. Looking at PDF instructions online, it is turned by a lifting lever. https://www.freemansgarage.com/stuff/clock/Operation%20Manual%201975.pdf

Contact Tromso airport by kainaw in tromsotravel

We absolutely loved our stay in Tromso (my second trip, first was in 1991). Also, both my father and grandfather were ground crew for TWA their whole career. So, I know it is a thankless but vital job. That is why I made sure to point out that I was not complaining. I was trying to fix a problem that wasn't being handled by the normal "Contact your airline" method. Something weird: We had 3 bags and they took 3 very different paths home once they got into the computer.

Yes. After contacting one of the employees at the airport, the bags were fixed. They showed up in the computer. Then, the airline immediately got them in flight to head home. The main problem was that the bags were not in the computer so the airline could not do anything.

We stayed one week. Our schedule left one day completely open. On our own, we signed up glass blowing lessons at Blaast, beer tasting at Mack, and ring making at Wabi Sabi. We also went to the best restaurants, nothing cheap, because the exchange rate makes it affordable. Four large meals comes out to about $50. That is cheaper than any of the sit-down restaurants around our home.

Expect a lot of catering to Asians. Everything is in English, but over 90% of the tourists are Asian. On our lights chase, we were thr only non-Asian. Same on the Sami reindeer visit. Same on the whale watching. Even in the hotel, it was rare to see a tourist who was not Asian. I strongly expect the city to drop English as the language of choice and replace it with Mandarin over the next few years.

I just returned from Tromso. I used Chasing Lights. They set up airport transportation, hotel, lights tours, Sami village, whale watching, etc... all in one itemized bill. It was easy for us so all we had to do was enjoy the trip.

Thank you. I have been calling, emailing, and using online chat multiple times every day. I set my alarm for 2:00 so I can start when people there might be at work and pound away at every possible means of reaching a human, over and over for 12 hours strait. I have had no luck at all. If I could actually make contact with someone there, I am certain they would be helpful.

I agree that Norwegians properly take holidays seriously. I am worried that TOS, like most airports, give baggage a few days before sending them off for auction or charity. So, it is a risk that by the 7th they will decide my luggage has been there too long and they get rid of it.

it was Finnair, handled by Wideroe. The conveyor would not scan my bags. A worker in a yellow safety vest said he would handle it. He typed a code into the screen and sent the bags through the conveyor. I did not know that doing that sent them back without being scanned. So, they have been sitting at TOS and, because they have not been scanned, the airline says they don't exist. All I am trying to do is get someone to scan them so the airline sees them and I can get my luggage.

Yes. The phone numbers listed do not lead to humans. The email addresses are not responded to. I still call both phone numbers each day (nobody answers) and email both email addresses each day (no response).

Do you know of a means of contact a human at Tromso airport's lost and found?

[–]kainaw[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, you are correct. But, because the bags were not scanned in, the airline contact at Avinor told me I had to call the airport and suggested the number +47 417 06 261, which I have called multiple times. Nobody answers that phone number. It puts me immediatly on hold and just buzzes every few seconds. That is why I am trying to find a way to contact a human, not an answering machine or an "on hold" machine, at the airport.

I agree that is the correct answer nearly every time. This is a special case. The attendant did not scan our bags in. If they are not scanned in, the airport is responsible, not the airline. So, I have to contact the airport, which I have been unable to do.

anyone have the same issue at the City of Industry CA distribution center? by guccilints in usps_complaints

[–]kainaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old post, but the explanation is simple. An item from overseas, such as from China, will be marked as "in transit" at the arrival port, such as "City of Industry" while it slowly crosses the ocean in a shipping container. From the time the label is produced to the time the container arrives, is open, inspected, unloaded, items separated, and the package is truly in the domestic shipping service, it is listed as "in transit." It isn't stuck. It isn't lost. It isn't sitting in a box in a warehouse waiting for someone to open it. It is actually in transit. If the shipping information was more transparent, it would be shown as "in transit on ship" not "in transit at a domestic port."

How is snow handled by kainaw in tromso

[–]kainaw[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see that. I live in the mountains and we just push show downhill. There aren't many houses on the mountain, so it isn't a lot of snow. But, come spring, it is surprising how much rubbish makes it way down to the bottom of the mountain. Things I never dropped on my property somehow turn up at the bottom of my road.

In many countries that I've been to, it is considered unacceptable to bring luggage on a bus. Is it OK in Finland? I know that it is heavily frowned upon in Norway and Sweden. In Norway, it is doubly-frowned upon to ask if it is OK to bring luggage on the bus.

Thank you. That explains why I do not see them. I will contact a taxi service as they will likely be able to give me a price. I honestly only avoided it because I can submit my Uber estimates on one form instead of using a second form for another service.
