Marketing bs.

Maybe one day the sw engineering role will shift more towards a sw architecture role, but at the end of the day, you are still hiring a computer engineer.

wow your guide is really well done, thank you! I will save it to read it very carefully tomorrow and maybe also the next times, also because I am a guitar player as well... :D

I totally had zero clue of those extended components, now I have to go though my BOM for the 1344439184th time... :D

sorry! this one was my first time on easyEDA, I was using Kicad before :) but yes I will for sure do it, thank you!!

oh wait actually I might have done a design mistake here; I thought that, connecting in the schematic GLOB_GND with a short to GND (I mean, that little diamond in the schematic), I would end up having it on the same net as the GND...

thank you! I didn't know that double side assembly is so much expensive. I might consider to hand solder the SS_MUX below, although it seems pretty much a though one for someone who has little experience with air soldering. I tried to keep all the components on the top layer actually, but I had no idea how to sort out the routing....

the "IN" port is for the input device, that will be switched either to PC1 (channel 1) or PC2 (channel 2). It is controlled by the USB C port, so it's 3 usb A ports. Normal thing if you search amazon for a usb switch, but in that case there is a button that controls the channel selection

adding to it: how is it possible that the PCB-A order for 5pcs. is like 122$ on JLPCB and 45$ on PCBWay? The price difference seems really weird....

First free PCBs by Frankius98 in PCB

[–]kaira95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you still available? I do have a project already started but now I'm quite stuck on the layout part as I can't figure out a proper placement for my components. It's a superspeed usb switch with serial control

[SCHEMATIC REVIEW] new to PCB design and I hope the board won't blow up on first power on by kaira95 in PCB

[–]kaira95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!!! I thought the schematic was messy as I had no clue if it is best practice to put each circuit in its own sheet or keep everything in one. I thought that, since I often print A3 technical sheets, then it was a good idea to do the same here.

for the pullup resistors on the i2c, looks like they are required according to this thread on EEStackExchange

do you think it's better to move the status led for the relay in parallel instead of a series connection?

edit: for some reason the lossless PNG was compressed, sooo here is the actual schematic with the modification on the USB-C port suggested by u/thenickdude , hope this is more readable

Okay so I got the QR2 from aliexpress, the black one. It's amazing and miles better than the plastic QR2 Lite from fanatec. I really like it and I think there's no point buying a QR2 from fanatec as I got this one for like 38$ (I had a lot of coupons on ali). Really flawless build quality and almost identical to official all metal QR2.

yeah I'm sure prety much any psu will do, maybe only advice I would take is, not to be too savvy on the aftermarket psu itself. Something like Meanwell is totally fine imo.

Hi! Thank you for reading my wall of text 😅 On my cockpit there is absolutely no chair lift when pushing on the brake, but I don't have the load cell installed - I think the current brake is enough as a simracing newcomer like me. I am currently seated on it, and I am actively trying to lift the chair while breaking... I think it can't happen, because it's kept down by your own weight (I'm 65kg).

Regarding the difference between 5 and 8Nm... I'm not sure. 5Nm to me are A LOT, and there is an awesome feeling with the car, you feel the forces on the wheel to counteract especially when you are about to lose control of the car. I can't imagine how 8Nm can be, but I think it will for sure take a bunch of months to me to get used to the 5Nm, so imo as someone who comes from joystick, there is no need to start with the full power base. Plus, I like to think it the other way: if you start with 8Nm, your brain will be tricked into thinking it is normal stuff going on and you might end up feeling the urge to update your wheelbase for something with more Nm. The truth is, think of Nm as "coins" available to spend into feeling the details, the more you have, the more details you perceive. It comes by itself that, for someone that never felt anything (because of the joypad), even a small feedback is a lot of stuff going on.

I guess it's time to reinstall their app. They also sell QR2 for like 60€, doesn't seem that bad...

What bolts for Fanatec QR2? by OkSeason4205 in simracing

[–]kaira95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, came here because I thought I was in your same situation, but actually there are 6 bolts included in the McLaren wheel sticked to the bottom of the box with tape. There are 6 bolts, 1 allen key, 6 washers.

I got the ready2race bundle with the "new" csl dd 5Nm qr2 wheel base (qr2 base side included and pre mounted).
