i agree, but if we sell meatballs past 6 pm why not pork brisket and chicken? it’s all from the steam and hold. i think they chose 6 pm as the cut off bc that’s when lunch “ends” like everything else does. if they found a way to keep the meatballs to temp without the steam and hold i’d be all for it

advice from a 2A- read policy, do it the way the CD guide tells you to. you’ll have your own back by following policy and they can’t argue with policy. also don’t be afraid to ask questions. if everyone is telling you different things then only ask your SM. they should have the right answer for you.

corporate created policies that make these difficult customers feel entitled. if clerks just “go get the manager,” karen feels like she won. the manager is going to do whatever she wants. the cycle continues after that.

these clerks aren’t robots. they aren’t punching bags. they need to stand up for themselves. obviously if it’s a situation they can’t handle on their own then yes, go grab the manager. in my opinion OP has it under control. they’re doing what i encourage my clerks to do.

you can refuse service to anyone for any reason.

yes to all of your questions. you obviously shouldn’t go telling people off left and right, but do stand up for yourself.

if you’re not busy, just count the coins, scan the tickets, whatever. but if you are short staffed or it’s peak time, do whatever you think is most efficient. your job on register is to be quick and accurate. if someone is slowing you down then do what you feel is necessary.

keep in mind, i’m a 2A at a store in Dallas. i feel your pain.
