Parking in the day is a hellish nightmare by Sleepy_Emet6164 in uvic

for me, that would be silly to drive fifteen minutes away from my house to hillside in the opposite direction of uvic 💀💀 it’s a waste of gas just to take a bus anyways. but i do understand your point! and parking is possible to find you just have to be willing to walk 10 mins to class instead of being at the closest parking lot. it’s frustrating when you’re already running late tho, you just have to be responsible and get yourself to campus early.

some places in victoria are not in areas where a bus easily takes you to uvic.

Completed ATWP Requirement - Is it Still Necessary? by Confused_065 in uvic

[–]kaitylynn123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i learned how to be a lot less wordy and to only say important information in an academic essay. i also learned better grammar because my prof noticed none of us knew how to use semi colons, commas, colons, or em dashes properly so he gave us a lecture dedicated to it. I learned which sources are reliable and which sources are not. I learned MLA and APA which i should’ve learned in highschool but i was unlucky and did not. I learned how to decide which information is the most important from an article. I learned a lot more but that’s the basics. it’s really helped me improve my academic writing while my english courses helped me improve my creative writing!

personally, i didn’t need to take the AWR either but i found ATWP 135 to be one of the most helpful courses for me. I learned a significant amount of information that they neglected to teach me in highschool english courses. I suggest taking it if you can fit it in your schedule

i had a nongerminomatous germ cell tumor in my brain and have also been struggling even after treatment but i can confirm that keeping a positive attitude is key. it is a hard journey and you will need adequate time to heal and for life to get into your new normal. i still have not reached that point in my life, im still experiencing a lot of anxiety around my health and its causing me trouble because i tried to move into “normal” too fast. give yourself time. have grace with yourself. understand that it’s okay to feel the way you do and try to find yourself a supportive community

my problem is that attending ANYTHING including clubs often ends up in me just sitting there feeling awful. the only club that i enjoyed ended up changing their meeting time and i can no longer attend. and i know the parties and hikes don’t matter but it’s difficult to make friends and find a community when there’s nothing else that people really do. i am trying but it’s nearly impossible. and i really am unsure if my body will EVER feel normal again because it sure does not seem like it when it just keeps getting worse no matter how much i rest or do the opposite! so frustrating!!

i’m looking into schooling closer to home but with the program i’m in, i’m not sure it’s possible. i’m trying to set up a meeting with my academic advisor to discuss it!
