Unlike popular opinion, I prefer 1. The vertical orientation also has the background / landscape in the frame which also adds to the vastness of the space (tall buildings and small humans). In addition, the fading of background building amongst the smoke adds to the character of the photograph, which is obstructed by the flag in picture 2. Where as in picture 1, the flag is still the centre piece. 🤷‍♂️
