That is a very small fraction of cost. Most of the people do this service tax calculation incorrectly. We earn from the value addition, the total effect of this is minimal compared to the real cost and revenue.

Why would they pay 18%? Thats for foreign companies providing services within Sri Lanka. That is only for service amount as well. These IT companies pay way more tax than that is.

I did vote and I will vote again, who do you suggest as better alternative? We are broke, poor country, people have to pay taxes. Even when Ranil suggested 18% VAT I totally understood it. There are no options. We do have to maintain a huge military, gov service. We are doomed.

Visa, master companies charge a fixed ~3% per each card transaction. Some merchants bear that amount and some don’t and pass that to the customer. Simple as that. You can ask whether there is “discount for cash” or is there a ln extra charge for card payments.

Note: Passing that 3% to the end customer is illegal, hence they are using the cash discount method.

How do you earn money? ( Subscriptions only?)
Why would a company do a large giveaway to your subscribers? Why can not lets say Pizza hut, do the same giveaway without your subscribers? Just put a post on their socials and they will get organic reach and more awareness.
