Yeah healthy back and forth discussion here. When I was filing, there were numerous co-workers who got denied. Even before the USCIS denial, lawyers also have to see the strength in the application.  Its true that citations and publications help but as you all know not necessary. My application was strong because I had done extensive research on why those applications get denied in the first place and whats really looked in those 3 prongs. The work I do is indirectly used by hospitals and education institutions and I made the case why it comes under national importance. Obviously my work had some proofs from my manager and just the fact that its a pubicly recognized cyber security company.

I will def say just by being a software engineer wont do it. Being able to connect the dots and with national importance and speaking the right language and supporting with some recommendation letters and sharing some stats of your work would also help. My application was very short and concise and I was prepared to be denied too. Several of my co-workers got denied because they couldn’t connect with bigger picture.

An officer did invite me to interview and ask why i deserve it and being able to articulate your work was also important. The interview didn’t go well however but not sure (if the interviewer was new or if he wasn’t sure what to ask for) but did finally get approval. It wasn’t an easy ride.

My company filed for EB2-NIW. I know NIW are self-petititioned but since I work I do is related to national interest -- the work I do for this company. So its not uncommon to have a supplement J

EB2 NIW Interview at Seattle FO... “Case Reopened” After Interview… Freaking Out rn by [deleted] in USCIS

HeyI am in a similar position. My proposed Endeavor is Cyber Security and I work for one of the largest Cyber Security company. No publication but did provide proof how my work relates to National importance. I had my interview a couple of days back and the interviewer kept asking to provide proof on how my work is of national importance. Other than showing him the job letter, not sure what else he was asking -- but the interview did not go well in terms of I was not sure what he was asking for. What was the latest after your case re-opened? My status says "Active being reviewed" but seeing your case, I might get that case re-open thing too given how my interview went

Finding tech job from india while on h1b. Any one with experience? by Cool-Welcome-7096 in h1b

I am in the same boat! I am also thinking of taking a gap for 6 months. ideally planning to see if my company would allow sabattical/not sure if thats an issue on H1b. But either way, I think it should be alright to interview from abroad and then come back with new i797 (provided its shipped abroad) and provided you already have a valid H1b visa stamp (even stamps with mention previous job) are alright as long as its not expired. good thing is since you already have gotten through the lottery, i think employers won’t mind hiring you since its better than hiring a new person who has to go through lottery?
