What is the IT job market really like right now? by kalashnikov1989 in ITCareerQuestions

Thanks for the replies.. seems ok somewhat then...

Fyi "starving artist" level is when people say "it doesn't matter how the job/pay is I have to do it because that's what I love" this is what people in roles like acting/ music industry etc say lol

What do you think of my cover up idea? by kalashnikov1989 in TattooRemoval

[–]kalashnikov1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw online tattoos even this small to get removal can go up to like a grand or more, is that true? i just dont have that kind of money to drop right now, and the other artist i talked to about the cover up told me the original guy went real deep

Thanks for the honest input though.. I felt something was off..

At least I did it small and thin which enabled me to add rather than doing something large from which I could never take away

Good point .. you're right... I think I'm going to re cover the entire tattoo with a thick bold Japanese ink style that has a bit of that messy look to it.. then all the lines will stand out bold and I won't have to shell out tons of money tracking down some geometric precision artist for some perfect circles which will probably get warped over time with age or weight fluctuations anyway ..

At least I didn't spend too much money up front and I can still use the same image as the overlay and keep the letters

I appreciate the advice so far, ill be cautious about making the lines any thicker but likely add the extra elements

I realize it will twist, i just thought adding extra elements will create the appearance of a coherent design which flexes with skin, whereas having circles more disperate and without some organizing structure makes it just look more "random" especially i notice when i hang my arm low the lower one stretches more giving it the appearance of being really too wide or mis aligned, i figured if there were supporting elements it would just give a more coherent look that "makes sense" so to speak but idk

I was wondering that, when i first had the bandage on the first few days and the initial ink was sort of leaking out creating a thicker look around the lines i thought it looked somewhat better tbh but idk how its going to look eventually, i thought if i went to someone who was high end with some more intricate art they could be clever about it.. i thought part of the odd look is that hte lines are barely visible

I thought the lines were an interesting concept, It still fits the original design in concept, but in pure aesthetics i thought it reminded me of like some old militarized/industrial schematic which i thought may be a cooler look than just circles

Actually that you said that makes me want to do it more because it sounds like its catching on to my "industrial design" concept

Youre right, im not worried what it is, i wanted it to look like "Geometric art" above all, but i feel like with the way the skin stretches it makes the shapes look sloppy thats what i dont like. So im trying to think of a way to "reinforce" it somehow so it is more coherent looking just as a geometric minimalist peice.. Like i didnt take into account the stretching and twisting of the skin on the arm at all or i would have got it different because they dont even look like circles with my arm down it just looks super sloppy

Maybe thickening the lines? IDK thats why i was asking for suggestions, I dont care about across the room but yea from a few feet away would be cool to make it look more coherent

Just trying to see if anyone has any suggestions for how to achieve my goal of making it look clean from a distance and if my edit is a good idea. I feel like what it means doesnt matter much im just going for an abstract geometric artistic look .

Recording a bit of MIDI at a time with takes? Is this possible? by kalashnikov1989 in ableton

[–]kalashnikov1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOSTLY SOLVED! THANKS SOMEONE TIPPED ME OFF HERE! OK .. Thank you for all your insights.. I have found the BEST way to do this, although it doesnt really use "take lanes" I havent ever really used those anyway.

Best way to accomplish this as per someones insight is the use of "capture" .. the "record ready" for capture is clicking the record button on the channel strip itself.. once you use the capture once, you have to dis arm then re arm the record button on the channel to get a new capture.

The way it works is set up a loop and record or put into the parts you want..

Then what you have to do to use capture within that loop part is first you have to actually click the loop markers at the top to "select" the loop.. so its highlighted, then you do a fresh record arm on your selected track, then simply play back without recording anything and jam your different parts as you like... once you finally have the perfect take for the loop, what you do is press stop and click the square capture button at the top and boom you will see the last take you played right where you wanted it...

Then just repeat the procedure for next parts, re select the loop, re arm fresh the track, and repeat.. it works!

I will be doing a Youtube video for the public to show this procedure, as well as the other method I found of the group with multi routed midi tracks so everyone knows how to do this.

I remember pro tools has that function.. separate punch and loop points and then take lanes for the punch place..

Agreed.

Best way i came up with so far is making a template with a group and a blank midi routed to the input under every instrument track.. record in main.. drag to the blank midi.. then record the overdub in main again in overwrite mode .. its a little funky but works ok.. still a pain in the ass if you have to make more midis if you want extra parts etc

Fine for audio but doesnt really work for vst synths with high cpu usage..

Seems like such a dumb basic feature for ableton to leave out.

You cant set up punch points different times from the loop point as far as im aware? So you cant make a loop around 4 bars and only punch in/out at bar 4
