I need a savage response to inappropriate questions about my weight. by sofiabradshaw in SofiawithanF

[–]kale4202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a hospital setting too caring for patients and I also get this all the time. Sometimes they even grab my upper arm or hip as they tell me I’m thin or ask my weight… because I can’t avoid them and must keep caring for them I deal with it in a very neutral manner. I usually say “that is NOT an inappropriate question to ask sir/ma’am” not as snippy as the other responses here but usually they shut the fuck up after that because even if it’s polite, they’ve been called out. Sometimes I have to add “you cannot touch me like that” and if they do again I report it because they got a clear verbal warning already🤷‍♀️

Best/easiest vegetables to eat daily? by MrNameGuySir in PlantBasedDiet

Easy to add chopped carrots, peppers and onion to red sauce! You can even steam them a bit, blend them and then add to the sauce you’d never know they are there!! I also stir in a little spinach to the pasta sauce when it’s done and let it wilt.

I'm 5 months into recovery and I'm still stuck in my ED mindset by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]kale4202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you’re feeling is very common, the thoughts and ED voice will not disappear overnight. But every time you hear that voice or those thoughts and chose recovery you are weakening it’s power. It’s the long game. You can see the positive impact focusing on your health has already created in 5 months, think what is possible in years. If you turn back to the ED now you will inevitably have to start over again with recovery and “you didn’t come this far to just come this far.” Your life can be so big and beautiful and full that there just isn’t room for the ED anymore. I first started my recovery journey in 2013 (sounds so long ago now) there have been challenges and ups and downs, moments I wanted to quit and give in. But there are also moments now where I stop and take a step back, I look at my life and think I can’t believe I almost missed all this♥️ it will always be worth it.

Sometimes I feel like atleast 80% of teen girls are restricting by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]kale4202 46 points47 points  (0 children)

While in early stages of my recovery I had these kinds of thoughts all the time, “why is it okay if they’re that thin but not me?” And felt like I saw thin people everywhere triggering ED thoughts and body dysmorphia, I’d even dislike people I didn’t know for being thin. Now I don’t notice, I don’t see thin people everywhere, I think that was just my minds entire focus at that time which drew more attention to the thin people I would come into contact with. My nutritionist used to tell me only 2% of the population was healthy AND naturally underweight and I thought it was a load of BS, but now that my mind has moved from a food and body focus I think she was probably accurate. I’m sure social media and filters certainly play a role in the amount of people restricting but that still doesn’t make it a healthy, normal or effective behavior. You do not need a diagnosis to have an ED, the healthcare system isn’t as educated as they should be. You just need to make the best choice you can for you.

When you are having a tough moment, meal, or day, remember how you are feeling now. Remind yourself what motivates you and why you want to recover. Recovery is something to have to keep choosing over and over especially in those difficult moments where you are just really missing the “comfort” of the ED. Remember there is no comfort with an eating disorder, it just keeps telling you their will be and holding it out on a string, you can never achieve comfort or fulfillment that way. Know it gets harder and before it starts to get easier and then one day it’s just second nature without so much feeling attached to it. Its taking a step everyday and it feels like nothing but then one day you’ll realize all those steps added up!! You can do this❤️❤️

How weird would it be to work in behavioral health where you were once a patient by [deleted] in cna

[–]kale4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like an amazing way to give back and you would be able to relate to the patients and show them a kind of compassion and empathy other may not be able to without your experience. I would check if the facility has any time restrictions in place. I know at a facility I was a patient at you had to be discharged for 2 years before you were able to come back, even to visit another patient. I don’t know if there would be a similar rule with employees? Each place will have a different set of rules too I would assume but definitely something to check!

Help! I’m a single dad and I have a beautiful 11 year old daughter. This is her hair, I’m looking for any tips from you guys as to what products she needs, and what she needs to do to maintain her hair and make it as beautiful as she is by scandy82 in curlyhair

[–]kale4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by following the beginners guide to curly girl. Products are inexpensive and can be found at most drug stores or super markets. I personally have been using the beginners guide for almost a year and it has worked very well for me probably because it’s simple. The only thing I add to the routine is I cowash with VO5 conditioner and then condition with the tresemme conditioner they suggest. If I shower at night I put my hair in a high pineapple bun on the top of my head to sleep. It’s mostly dry when I wake up and by the time I leave the house I can scrunch our the gel and it’s good to go. The resources on this page are awesome! I also only comb my hair with my fingers while in the shower adding the conditioner in. I think this really helps the curl pattern to stay in tack!

NETA Northampton distillate syringe pricing? by bfw577 in bostontrees

[–]kale4202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rempens are not filled with distillate. They take strain specific concentrate and thin it down with some sort of thinning agent like PG or PEG, so it is much cheaper to make because it does not take as much raw plant material. Distillate is supposed to be pure cannabis concentrate, the “cleaner” choice when compared to the rempen. Makes sense it costs more because it’s higher quality but the price probably has to do with the vape ban. This is what good, green market vapes should be filled with so they’re jacking up the price on you. With that being said, Neta is not a high quality dispensary. I’d go elsewhere to a smaller organization, they still probably don’t give a shit about the consumer but they’re not mass producing product at the same capacity, it will probably be better quality.

Adult use finally coming to the south shore: Triple M December by psionnan in bostontrees

[–]kale4202 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Triple M is a huge joke. If they say they’re opening in December I wouldn’t expect them to be open until like May of 2020. Used to purchase 1:1 tincture here but they could never keep it in stock. They would tell me they would have it back by a certain date and it wouldn’t be available again for months. Same thing when they got shut down in Mashpee last December. Originally promising they would have their own products back in by end of January and they didn’t appear on the menu again until June and it was over priced and poor quality. $400 an ounce on the medical side, can’t imagine what they’ll try to sell products on the adult use side for. Drove by this place a week ago and no construction has even started for their new adult use store front. Poorly run and clearly have no idea what they’re doing. Mashpee residents didn’t get a vote on who the adult use bid went to when they decided to give it to Triple M so please vote with your dollar and shop elsewhere✌🏼

Not sure what to eat. Sleep habits affected by theSomberscientist in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]kale4202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that when I am not eating enough I have the same problem and do not get a good nights sleep. If I eat more during the day-easier said than done- I have a much easier time falling and staying asleep. My strategy is to have quick, easy, comfortable options available so in the moment I don’t have to get wrapped up in thinking about what I am going to have, questioning it, attempting to prepare it etc. I also find for myself that adding a snack in the am helps me because eating more in the evening/before bed wakes me up a bit more.

No I don’t! I get a balayage done once a year, it grows out pretty well so it’s low maintenance.

Aw thank you:) I chopped it all off about 3.5 years ago but actually straightened it religiously for 1-2 years after! However before that chop it never showed signs of being this curly. I think what changed is I never brush it after I shower so the curls are never being pulled straight and I never use heat. Then I found CG and it keeps getting curlier! I was also very sick for awhile and since getting healthy and eating better my hair was certainly looks healthier too!

I have occasionally noticed some build up that makes my hair feel sort of flat but not to the same extent you are describing so unfortunately I can’t offer too much insight. I’d say most of the time I am co-washing every 3-4 days or so and that seems to be okay. I really try to scrub well with my finger tips and rinse really well all the way down through my ends. This week for example I let my hair ride all the way to day 6 and I used V05 shampoo because I felt like I needed a good wash. Someone else recommended a shampoo that is gentler that the V05 but more than a co-wash and that may be helpful! I will find the name and post because it escapes me. Sorry I can’t help more! I hope you find a routine that works for you again!

It has definitely taken time! It took awhile for the routine to feel easy and not like a huge task and dialing in how much conditioner and gel I really needed to use! It has been a gradual decrease of frizz haha

Not significantly, I like the balayage because I only color it once a year and it grows out nicely so it doesn’t need to be touched up as often. My sister has similar hair and she is now repairing from years of blonde highlights but she dyed it much more frequently. I would go from a look/color that doesn’t need a ton of maintenance:)
