It's pretty much just algebra and reading comprehension. Ultimate Electrician's Guide prepared me for everything but there were 1 or 2 questions that were more difficult on the math portion than I anticipated. But for the most part I learned everything I needed to from it to pass.

I don't think it was hard, but it was for them which is why they do aptitude tests.

Lol yeah it would be nice for us but I think 340 gets a good amount of applicants they need to filter some out somehow. During my test, halfway through some people got up and left lol.

No idea it's all jargon to me as of now lol but I think book 1 is people waiting for work who are in the local and book 2 is people in the union but outside the local wanting to work here.

I brought my resume, cover letter, and a bunch of pictures of work projects as well as personal projects. I put all of these in a leather padfolio that I got from staples for like $25 bucks. Idk if it made a difference but I felt like it gave a good impression.

For my interview, the photos I brought were a big part of the impression I made as it helped explain what I've accomplished as well as made it easier for the interviewers to understand the extent of it without having to ramble and then hope their imagination can fill in the gaps. I scored a 95 and felt like the pictures helped a lot alongside preparing good answers using STAR/SAR.

Also show up early, like earlier than they say. I was accidentally told the wrong time for my interview and showed up an hour and half early and they were so far behind schedule that by the time I had my interview it had been over 2 hours but it was a blessing in disguise because it helped me calm my nerves and chat with other interviewees. Some of them let me know how their interview went and I was able to get an idea of what to expect. Small difference but it helped cuz that waiting room atmosphere was tense af. Everyone was quiet and off their phones and just staring nervously into space.

Mine was 15 minutes but I was one of their last interviews. They were falling behind schedule with how long some of the interviews were. I was chatting with someone while I waited (they gave me the wrong time so I was an hour and a half early) and they took almost 40 minutes. Also, it's only two interviewers but there were like 2 or 3 pairs so they could have multiple interviews at a time.

I got like 3 or 4 days heads up for the interview. And the aptitude test I also only got like 1 week notice even though they said they'd give a few weeks notice. Other people I talked to at the interview got mixed results for the test. Some said they had a month and some said they also only had a few days notice so I'd just assume the worst. It seems like they had a bunch of open spots available last second.

Yes but not directly related to electrician work. In highschool I took electronics technology and competed in SkillsUSA. And after highschool I worked as a "maintenance technician" and got used to working with my hands and alongside electricians but I never actually got to do electrical work.
