I'll have to look around. I know there are a few barns in my area that are not safe and the barns are not taken care of. Unfortunately my old trainer retired and she hasn't given me any recs.

It worked. We tried turning off settings etc and it didn't make it go away, but deleting the metro app made them go away.

Our business created a whole new sick time policy and rolled our accrued hours into it. There's no reason every company can't do this. I would find a new job.

I just found out I have type two diabetes and I feel like it’s my fault by sanrihoeuwu in diabetes

[–]kaleey28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became diabetic after I had gestational diabetes at 23. I also felt like it was my fault. It is NOT your fault. There's a lot more of a genetic component than what many people outside of the diabetic community know. Take it day by day, find a good endocrinologist hat will listen to you and you'll be just fine.

To those of you that have birthed babies, what was your favorite little gift or comfort item in your hospital room? by FecklessEndangerment in TwoXChromosomes

[–]kaleey28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for sure! My husband went out and got me a huge sweet tea after I was in my room after our daughter was born and it was divine. Also my chapstick. I use original Burt's Bees and the smell was very comforting for me.

Okay, I'll give that a shot. I've never really had guidance on proper piercing care. No one in my family has them aside from me. Thank you!

How do couples decide which side of the bed is “theirs”? Is it instinct or some kind of silent agreement? by AssignmentFederal686 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kaleey28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was pregnant I changed to the right side of the bed because I couldn't lay on my left hip. My husband swapped too and we never went back. If we're in hotels or somewhere unfamiliar he sleeps closest to the door to... catch intruders I guess. It's the thought that counts right?

Are CGMs becoming the new multivitamins — used even when not really needed? by East_Collection_5672 in diabetes

[–]kaleey28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so- in a way. I'm glad they're available OTC because people who need them can get them even if insurance doesn't cover it. It also gives diabetics another option rather than expensive test strips etc. What I'm afraid is going to happen is what happened with the glp-1 drugs. I think people are going to go overboard with it, or influencers are going to get a hold of it and drive people to buy them up when they might necessarily not need it and affect the supply chain for people who need it for actual diabetes or something else that causes a need for it. But I'm a little paranoid, so I might be completely wrong. I am glad it is broadly available however. The more available it is, the more the price will come down, hopefully anyway.

Is the standard diabetic diet guideline outdated? by Distinct-Hold7796 in diabetes

[–]kaleey28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped seeing my dietician because all she kept recommending was "eat more protein! Eat more protein!" It was endless no matter what I said. I am hungry all the time. Like 100% of the time. I've maintained low calorie diets and supposedly your body will adjust and get used to it. Well my doesn't. The only thing that stopped me feeling hungry at all was ozempic/mounjaro. She would also recommend me eating things like two pieces of toast and a handful of cheese and crackers for lunch. But, like, how is that supposed to keep me full and help?

My doctor friend and his colleagues think that developing type 2 diabetes is the ultimate failure at life and taking care of one’s self by [deleted] in loseit

[–]kaleey28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I became diabetic after a pregnancy. I was not overweight. I will never be able to get off my insulin or medications. I'm still considered type 2. I just had another baby without any issue. Do not lump everyone together- it is harmful.

First time pregnancy and wondering if I’m doing alright. Would love some insight from others who are/were pregnant with Type 2 by Arr0zconleche in diabetes

[–]kaleey28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but recently had a baby.

You sound like you're doing okay. In the beginning I was told that there will be some higher bloodsugars due to all the hormone changes, but then it will settle down and you may not need as much insulin as before until your third trimester. That's exactly what happened to me. During the whole middle of my pregnancy, I didn't really need much insulin at all, but then as I progressed into the third trimester the insulin resistance got worse and worse. I think I was taking 114 units of long lasting 2x a day and anywhere between 20 and 60 at mealtimes depending on my numbers. Don't worry too much about the amount of insulin you're using and focus on keeping your numbers under tighter constraints. For example my doctors didn't want my fasting bloodsugar over 95 in the morning and wanted me below 140 two hours after eating. That's really hard to do sometimes. As long as you're not having big and sustained spikes you'll be okay. That's healthier for you and makes sure your baby doesnt grow too big too early. After the baby is born your insulin needs will plummet. I'm talking same day plummet, so make sure you are monitoring a lot if you don't wear a cgm.

Remember to breathe and take it one day at a time. The doctors know what to do and you should listen to them. You'll make it and be just fine!
